I loved seeing the spey cast fisherman back home in Sultan WA along the skykomish- and celebrating salmon days in Issaquah. The colors of coho were always my favorite, and I'll never forget the smell of the rivers after all the species spawned throughout late summer and fall. The gathering of eagles and ospreys inspired so much awe in conjunction with the mountains and tall trees. I hope one day after college I can return home to WA and spey cast for salmon, and thanks to your videos I think I'll have a good place to start learning. Cheers and thank you for these videos.

Hey all. Tom's opening statement in this video is incorrect. He states at the very top that -anglers have been enjoying fishing for salmon and steelhead since Europeans first came to North America. - Just to be clear, anglers have been enjoying fishing for salmon and steelhead long before Europeans ever arrived in North America. Anyway, thanks for the good content as always. Fish on!

I had my first reasonably successful salmon fishing experience on the Manistee River a little over a week ago. I say reasonably successful because I hooked 5 fish but didn't land any of them. One was a big hen in the 30 lb range. I was just wondering what percentage of the fish you hook you actually bring to net. Keep the good stuff coming guys.

Do you ever keep the fish you catch? I just started fly fishing and I caught my first trout last week. What I noticed is I didn't want to keep it. When I fished any other way I would always keep it. I don't know if fly fishing creates a relationship with you, the river and the fish that you want someone else to enjoy it, too.

Wow. I remember watching this original episode on TV a few years back. The digital remastering is just amazing! Well done, Orvis, thanks a bunch! And yes Tom, you are on fire!

Nice informative & interesting video Tom --. Could I use a 10ft spinning rod & suspended a fly, under a sliding float -? As the highest wt fly rod I own is a 6wt.
