I have an otter ice cabin and I'm going to switch to a pop up thermal. Reasons are, stuck with crappy seats, small fishing area, the area inside the tub is miserable to access when fishing opposed to just setting things on the ice beside the chair. Limited to the amount of storage, too expensive. Towable sleigh can be used for other tasks like firewood where as the sleigh on the otter is single use. Alot of areas to leak heat from around the tub. Perhaps this info will help others.

Hey Jay, I gotta admit, that I have been feeling a bit down looking toward winter this year. You are inspiring me to get more excited about hard water season. I just picked up a new Strikemaster 40 V. I have an insulated flip over, with heater and will get a trailer for my snow machine for more portability. Thanks for this series. So informative! P. S. your garage is unreal tidy. Reflects your character! Nice, nice!

Truly another great video man, I can say I have both styles and I love the hub for space and portability. The flip up though is key when you want to have everything together and it's just you alone.
Thanks Jay again for the awesome effort in getting these together.

Another major consideration is weight; thermal vs non and flip-over vs hub. Most new ice fisherman won't have a snowmobile or ATV to pull their shanty. There's a big difference between pulling a 50lb hub and a 150lb flip-over by hand.

What a beauty series! The only suggestion I would make: instead of creating garbage with hot hands packs, zippo makes a refillable hand warmer that lasts up to 8 hrs on a full saturation (approximately $30 CDN on amazon)

If youre pulling a flip over by hand, youre gonna want a smitty sled! Makes pulling heavy shacks way easier! Thanks for the great content, Jay. A lot of people will find this series very useful.

I was thinking about what type of shack I am going to get and this brought a lot of points about each type of shack that I havent thought about. Thank you and keep this great series going.
