Everytime I used gold fish my line kept getting cut everytime I had a fish on. I realized that it was prolly gar so I used a steel leader and really let em eat it and sure enough gar. Guess gar love gold fish. I did catch one small blue cat fish on a gold fish, no flatheads though.

This is an old post. So don't know if you will see this. But I am no guru or anything but my pb is 62lbs flathead followed by a 60lbs and about a 35lbs. My best blue is only in the teens but give the right opportunity could better that with time at the right water.

I agree with RcFrenzy. Luke Nichols from Catfish and Carp would be fun to catch catfish with. His little boys Tommy and Nathan are so fun to watch if you like kids and Luke knows how to catch the big catfish.

I've only lost a few big fish I use #8 team catfish circlehooks and I always let them run with it and slowly tighten drag and after 20 yards of line is ran tighten to reeling point and game on everytime.

In va Stanton river state park a lot of ppl been catching 200 plus catfish my family and I went and was catching cats back to back we had at least over 100 pounds of cat and bass

The first problem is the rigs. That is just destroying your hookup ratio, and you don't have to set the hook at all on a circle hook, just start reeling until it's tight.

NC has some amazing catfishing here. Ive only caught one that was over 40lbs, but many in the 20-30 range. Good luck to you man Oh, and love the vids man

You need to go to Walmart and grab some bags of catfish chum. Just throw that chum out were you're casting and the catfish should come on out and party.
