Tip for catfish. Use beaver liver. Chicken liver flies of the hook to easily. But beaver liver is tuffer and will stay on the hook and if anything it might stink more

You need to let the gars completely swallow the bait their mouths are all bone so its super hard to set the hook in their mouth so just let them swallow the whole bait
