Well, this is my first purchase for the NEW FARM Comment below what I should buy next for my new farm I highkicker11: you need to put the bees on a stand about a foot high and you need more plants and flowers that the bees will visit to even keep them a live with in about a 4 mile radius. around the hive. the mite you are talking about is the varoa mite and you can help keep your hive happy and healthy with rhubarb as that holds a acid the mites cant stand. also you need to put your brood frames in the center of the hive-boxes the more on the outside you put your brood the less chance your hive will have to survive. i just hope that you get enough education quick enough to keep these darlings alive.

Just to help you the files are called frames. The boxes where they make babies are called brood boxes and the honey comb in those will turn black over time. Once you have two boxes on a hive you put a queen excluder on and put on a box for them to fill with honey. A box that the bees fill with honey is called a super. What the boxes are for is important because if you use a super for a brood box it can no longer be used for honey. There is a lot to beekeeping and your doing well so far. Im tired of typing so I will stop now

You should put the hives at least 1 and1/2 feet off the ground and also put a brick on top so raccoons or other animals wont knock the lid off and If you do check your bees and you take out frames try to put them back in the same way to keep the bees from getting a bit confused and those bees were extremely calm compared 1 hive I've worked with me and my buddy had at least 50 to 100 bees trying to sting our face so your lucky on those calm bees and check out barnyardbees and 628dirtroster

Give the bees polon padies and make sure to treat them for mights, also close off the entree de for the first few weeks just so they can build up population to defend their hive from mice and other pests, also you wont get honey for a while dont forget to get queen excluders or your queen will lay eggs in the same frames as the honey so you cant use it, message me with any questions and if I dont respond ask me in a video and Ill get in contact with you

My mate had similar problem with the green algae - after spending thousands of different treatments - in the end some old guy told him to lob a bale of straw in to the pond, it soaks the green stuff up. Also similar to when i had a tropical tank at home, was told 30 seconds of direct sunlight on the tank will start to turn the water green. So sounds like the pond needs some shade as to much sun is on it.

I'm not sure how close the bees are to your cabin but you might have an issue with them getting inside when they start to swarm. When they out grow your nuc boxes by the end of the summer or next year that cabin will look very attractive, but as long as they have space to grow or you split them in time it should be fine. Or if the cabin gets fixed up and all the access points closed.

Oh My GoodnessThis concept of one bee sting. and the rest of the bees will all be attracted, and you could be killed. Is utterly nonsense. As a kid, I had 8 hives. Produced the honey, bottled it. And marked it. Sooo. I like your posting farming on line, so consumers can understand, where and how their food comes from. BUT. you have to provide true information.

OMG, from someone who's been reading about beekeeping for a year or so. If the person that you bought them from told you that if one bee stings you your pretty much going to die, you need to find someone else to buy your bees from You also need to read a ton about beekeeping, most new beek's will lose their bees the first winter Good luck

By the way yes you still can get stung through the suit. Hahaha my in laws are beekeepers my father inlaw is actually the president of the beekeepers association in California. Definitly learning a lot about bees, keep it up if you have questions hit me up and I can ask my pops.

I'm a fan of restoring old houses, but that one looks like it may be too far gone. I'd get a price on restoring it, and raising it on stilts, and compare it to building a new one: Also on stilts. I'd a once in a lifetime flood, but you may live 2 lifetimes. LOL: )
