Site fishing for bedding bass and looking at their behaviors through the spawn and different strategies for catching these fish. You need a good pair of polarized lenses in order to site fish effeciently. For best visual acuity use a lense that lets in a little more light than a darker pair of lenses. I like 20-40% light transmission depending on the cloud cover. Check out my favorite lense for sight fishing here

Hey, I'm new to Bass Fishing, I'm use to Trout. But while fishing up in North GA I found a lake, so I took a walk around. Within minutes I found Large Mouth's bedding the shore. I threw out a Brush Hog and slowly hopped it threw the mouth of their bed and to the shore repeatedly. Two thing's happened, they were either frightened by it and left, or didn't pay any attention to it. But they returned almost immediatly. What are some tips to get them to bite? Am I using the right lure?

That is one of the hardest fish to catch, but you can usually get them to bite if you see them before they notice you. My favorite way to catch these fish is to take a light wighted fluke and blast it out there as far as I can, keeping the bass just with in your vision and aiming for where it is going. Work the bait steady towards the fish, or where it is heading and give an eratic set of jerks when you get close to it, then kill it right in front of it's mouth.

I've got a question about bedding bass which i find really hard to fish. I heard that crawfish colered spinner baits are really good in spring time so i went to my local pond in the neighborhood and saw a whole bunch of beds with bass guarding them. So i casted further away from the bass and reeled my spinner bait right over the bed and practically right infront of the bass's face but he did not even budge. I was really close to shore though ( where he was.

Theyre not gonna chase it, they are protecting the nest, not feeding. You need a much slower presentation, keep your bait in the general area of the nest. Ia lot of bass on beds are stunborn and wont attack for a while so running a spinnerbait through various beds isnt a good idea.

Just today I had the T-rig with a 7'' Powerworm and threw it in front of a bass that was sitting in its bed and was (literally) an inch from its face but had no interest whatsoever. Of course I kept my distance and tried numerous set ups but no bite: (

Some of the best info on bedding bass I have ever heard and it's backed up with the footage to show you know exactly what you are saying. I know this will help me in April an may when the bass start bedding up here.

You should really do this but from fishing from shore and not in a boat and really help us youngsters out and learn. Because none of my family owns a boat and won't get one and I'm stuck at a pond and on shore

if the water was clear, chances are he made you. Saw all the metal on the bait and decided it wasn't a threat or food. Spinnerbaits shouldn't be your first choice in clear water.

Is the reason why the bass did not go after the lure was because it was the wrong lure to use or maybe the bass was afraid of me because he saw me cast near his bed?
reply

That's part of the reason I don't throw jigs on beds. I prefer a shakey head because when a bass eats it he eats the entire bait not just the back
