I am up North where fishing season ends about the time deer season begins. Last week I stripped the reels down and cleaned them with REM oil (per another LFG video recommendation. Then I came across this video as I was ready to put new braided line back on a couple of the reels. It worked great, even used it putting a leader on fly line. But now I see two comments below about the FG knot being way better. Will have to check them out. Would love to hear comments on the comparison.

I learned the FG before the Alberto and feel like the FG is stronger, and I can tie it better. The thing about knots is you can tie a really complicated knot that on paper has good stats but you haven't mastered it. At that point the one you use all the time will seem as though it's better but in reality the best knot is the one that's practiced most. I tie knots at bare minimum 100 times before I use it in the field.

Does the leader have to be thicker than the braid. I was thinking about buying a big spool of 40 ib braid and putting it on all my rods, and then putting different pound test leaders. If I put a 15 pound fluro leader on the braid is that bad because the braid is thicker than the leader. I know with the FG knot that is a problem.

This is way faster than the Fg knot that's why I do it I been using it for 3 years absolutely love it I lost more baits from getting stuck in timber or docks I have broke tree branches and not had this Break on me I live by it

Ive used this knot before. MAKE SURE ITS PERFECT! I was walleye fishing today, hooked like 7 if them, and after all that, I casted my crank off my line. It held up for a while, so I guess its OK, but still.

I had a hell of a time trying to tie 4lb flouro to a 20 lbd braid with this knot. Finally got it and the flouro broke trying to tighten it down. Only thing i can get to work is a uni to uni knot.

This knot is the best for me. I suck at connection knots and this is the only knot that works for me. And by the way how long of leader are you using on your bait caster?

Good knot, I just started tying it. It is much easier than a GT knot. The GT is smaller because you don't have the extra loop of mono/floro but they are both good knots.

Been using the Alberto knot for flouro to braid for about a year now and never had it fail plus goes through the guides smoother than any other knot I have tried.

Love that knot! Gonna have to give it a go. You need to try the blood knot. Its another bulletproof knot that sinches down like a Chinese finger trap
