Hunting for Big Texas Hog Glad I Had My PISTOL!

Hunting for hogs at night on a Texas cattle ranch, glad I had a pistol Survivalist: Nice Tusk, Feral hogs have been rooting up ranches, golf courses, yards throughout Texas. Feral swine also out compete local wildlife and sometimes even attack them (ex: young deer) to eliminate competition. In Houston, TX a native toad species (Houston Toad) is endangered partly due to habitat destruction by feral hogs. They have few predators as piglets but as they age they loose less and less predator besides humans. They are incredibly smart, strong and fast making them in my opinion the best dangerous non-game to hunt.
I do feral hog eradication in North Texas & East Texas and I love it. I believe I'm doing more good for the environment shooting those hogs then shooting paper at the range. It's also a truckload of fun!
If anyone reading this is a competitive shooter, range shooter, a hunter, or someone who loves nature and preserving local ecosystems. Please seek out a hunters education course, hunting permit, watch some videos, talk to some hunters, be safe and take down some wild boars.
Hogs are not the only invasive species in Texas we also have nutria. In not only East Texas but Fort Worth! Can you believe that?

I always would carry a sidearm on ANY hog hunt! You never know if one might charge you and try to RIP you to shreds. My personal choice for a sidearm would be a Ruger GP100. 357 Mag. It has the stopping power of a full sized cannon, and there's 5 or even 6 more depending on which one you get. Happy Hunting, and be safe always!

I got charged by a 250lb sow dropped it with my 10mm G20. I was fishing and I heard brush rustling, pulled up my pistol and it came through the brush hauling ass. I hit it right between the eyes and it spun out maybe 7ft away from me. Talk about a rush.

not graphic but i understand millennial flakes loosing their shit. anyway why wouldn't you take your rifle? until you haul it out don't leave your rifle but i'm sure you got that now.

Thats y we always carry a 44 we shot one with a full mag of 45 and caught everyone in the first piece of skin but we dropped 4 with the 44 reloads

Just a suggestion but I'd have a light on my pistol and rifle. Especially if you are hunting hogs at night. What caliber of pistol did you hit him with?

I thought that people recommend gloves when dressing hogs. One video I watched said they carry diseases that can be transmitted to people.
