Bass Fishing by Copper Head Snakes

Spring bass fishing using texas rigs for bed fishing and see a floating copper head snake right by the boat! Marco: Beautiful snake! Why kill it! It has a place in the ecosystem. Just because you don't like them and because they can potentially harm us is no reason to kill them. There are people I don't like and I don't kill them because of that. Also, humans are much more dangerous than snakes and some kill other humans because they want to, not just in self defense. Still, I don't kill humans because of that. Snakes strike in defense. Also, snakes keep the numbers of some animals controlled, like mice (in a country in Asia people killed a lot of pythons to eat and their numbers became very low. Result: the numbers of rodents went up and they destroyed a good part of the rice fields. rice production is where most of the people work and rice is their staple food. They had to bring pythons from other countries to correct the problem. Snakes are also important because they are food for animals like eagles and even bass.

Just made it possible for me to post public comments. Love your site. esp your uplifting attitude and humor! Just getting into the kayak fishing realm but thanks for the education and motivation! Watching you guys fishing Lady Bird Lake last yr made me feel like I was there! Thanks for the entertainment/education of angling!

A lot of copperheads around here too. I live in Georgia. Gotta worry about them and moccasins. I grew up on a nice little pond. As a teenager, I would walk around the pond holding a machete and slice their heads off. I just don't like poisonous snakes. I would never harm a non poisonous snake though.

Not a copper head, they avoid water as much as possible. Just your typical water snake who happens to be quite horny this time of year. Theyll put on quite an aggressive show when their peckers are hard during the rut.
