In this video we discuss how to make a shark rig for surf casting. This rig is meant to be fished with a 10-12ft surf rod and primarily targeting sharks in the 6ft range such as blacktips and juvenile bulls. If you have any questions on the tackle used in the video or the rig itself, feel free to ask your question below! How to tie an FG knot: How to make the Landshark Rig: Hooks used in Video:

Anyone else have casting issues with this set up? When I cast, the bait runs through the sliding weight arrangement. So the bait flies out fairly far, but the weight slides up the main line and only gets about 20-30 yards out. Naturally then, when I reel it in until it's taunt, the bait comes way back into where the sinker on the slide ended up. Any suggestions on fixes? Perhaps my chunk of bait is too heavy in comparison to the weight?

i do the same rig except i just use a snap swivel on the main line to hold my sinker. any advantage to doing it with the regular swivel and length of mono? I'd imagine it keeps the bait off the water a little better but may be more likely to tangle especially while casting?

Brother I got news for you I have already cought sharks only using my braided line a hook and sinker.
All that other stuff is not needed.
Although if your targeting sharks I'd recommend the steel leader.
Buy a crimping tool. a lot cheaper.

Can someone help a beginner and let me know if the heavy mono connected to main line can successfully go through my guides onto spinning reel? Ive only got 9 ft rods.

I noticed you don't use any adjustable floats on the wire part with the hook. Any reason for or against that idea? See a lot setup like that in tackle shops.

When attaching the rig to your rod, why not tie a snap to the end of the line coming off your rod and a swivel to the end of your rig to attach to?
