I use the loop knot for hard body stick bait type lures, and a normal uni knot for everything else, usually with a split ring on the nose, don't know if they're overrated but it's just how I've always done it. Having said that after seeing the thumbnail of this video I'll tie whatever knot Brooke tells me too. Seriously though great video as always, I've really enjoyed the tackle Tuesday videos so far.

just to add something! it all comes to lure weight and line (mono) test ratio. A heavy lure can get away with the uni-knot and not miss performance with a lighter test line! So a too small or not heavy lure with a bit stronger test line (say a 20#) will suffer with this same knot. as the line will try to rotate the lure on one direction affecting the accion of the lure.

Good video, and shows that the action of large lures is not affected by the leader knots that much, although someone below pointed out correctly that it depends on the leader thickness. I tie loop knots on pompano dropper rigs using owner mutu circle light hooks, #2 & #4, deadly. The rotation of the hooks seems to snag more fish.

Don't see much difference in the pool. I have used loop knots on popper type baits, but I really don't see any added action to the bait that would matter to the fish. In my opinion they either slap it out of anger or they are hungry.

I dont care Ive cought fish on straight braid Palmer knots loop knots fishermen knots with long tags knots where I clean tags up use the knot that is the most successful for you dont need to reinvent the wheel with knots

I have to agree with you, they are overrated. The one thing I've noticed is with the spooltek the loop knot gives it more of a wobble. I've used a regular cinch knot on lures and they work just as well. Great video!

they look about the same. The real question is how much line strength do you lose using the loop--compared to uni or palomar etc. It doesn't make sense to get slightly more action and get broke off

Great video guys! I always use loop knots. Some times I can see a difference with spooks but everything else I don't feel the difference. Can't wait to see what is next. Keep it up!

uni always, i think it's def overrated. i notice a bit of more wiggle in spooltek when steady retrieve. however i think you get better hook up ratio with the uni.

The only difference I saw out of all the lures was when you tested the spoolteck and the loop knot made it wobble just a little so I say loop knot is overrated
