Okay, for those in Florida wondering if puffers (aka southern puffer, checkered puffer, toadies) are poisonous, I ate 9 of them last night, and I'm still alive and kicking. I caught them in the intracoastal waterway in Palm Beach County. Floridahealth. gov advises to not consume puffers caught in Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin counties, as they may contain saxitoxin, which is a natural toxin derived from the critters the puffers eat. BTW, the puffers were unbelievably good. better than the mangrove snappers I caught at the same time.

You should egg wash them before you put them in the Everglades breader help it stick me and my fiance do the flour then egg wash and more flour and we season the flour with salt pepper paprika and garlic powder make sure it's powder not salt cause the salt will all fall to the bottom powder mix's really well with the flour if you try that recipe I guarantee you won't regret it

Hi Rob and Sara! Quick question: I've noticed your two videos on catching toadies were both uploaded in September, two years apart. Is that the best time to catch them, or are they around all the time? Thanks!

They are delicious. .but I won't eat them unless a professional cleans them! Not worth the risk imo. but I have had them and they are worth catching!

Rob How do you know todies from the other poisonous puffers. I lived in Japan for 12 years and you have to be certified to clean puffers in Japan.
