Beautiful deer country! If I remember correctly, Chester is (or was) home to Menard State Prison where Old Sparky was in use years ago. I was born and raised in Southern Illinois and hunted in Jackson County (52+ deer/sq. mi. There is (or was) two gun seasons each 3 days. One occurring the weekend before Thanksgiving, the other the weekend before Christmas. Southern Illinois has a SERIOUS overpopulation of deer and it's not understood by anyone why the gun season isn't changed to better control the population. Just recently, the Department of Game and Fish Commission introduced the apex predator Mountain Lion to begin the necessary natural control of this beautiful animal that is responsible for untold vehicle accidents and the many human deaths from those collisions.
Well done on the taking of a beautiful 8-point, Robert. Thanks for sharing your experience in the Land of Lincoln.

we just got an australian shepard puppy he is 11 weeks old now on 9/23/22 we had our mini schnauzer put down and our mutt was missing her playmate so we got this crazy puppy but my mutt is no longer depressed and i think she still misses our schnauzer a little but i think the puppy helper her and us recover from the loss we had him for 15 years. my mutt is my pic on my profile we still have 1 mini schnauzer that is gonna be 15 but she is in perfect health. my schnauzers were 1/2 brother and sister same dad different moms.

I have two favorite ways to cook my venison. One s pretty simple, seasoned with some cracked pepper and reg Everglades on
a HOT charcoal grill. I also have my own chili recipe that I like and I ll seer the meat first on the grill then dice it up and add it to the
chili and slow cook it for about an hour till it s tender. I gotta try the slow roast, I was never a venison roast fan, but you may have
sold me on that one!

That was a beautiful buck! Now, this is a friendly suggestion. You may have already, but that puppy needs to see the vet for some wormer. He s too young for OTC worm medicine, but a vet can worm those youngsters. I always get wormer from the vet for my kittens because if I was to wait until they were 12 weeks old, I would lose the majority to worm related illnesses.

Rob. you're awesome. I've been fortunate enough in my life that my papaw and uncles have had me out hunting all game in every way just like you're doing with your girls! Lil warriers they will be! Listen. we do our deer exactly like you did. only we add an entire jar of banana peppers on that meat before putting it in the oven. nothing better!

Always a good hunt when you get a win. The meat/tater/gravy recipe I m stealing to spring on the boys at camp after the first deer of the weekend falls. Favorite venison is chicken fried, to answer the question. Soak prepped cutlets in seasoned buttermilk for 2 hours prior to breading and frying. Money dude!

8 weeks is to young to take him away from his siblings and his mother. 12 weeks is the minimum a puppy needs to stay. This dog will have huge socializing problems and have some fear Trauma.
