Kayak Fishing: Offshore Trip Gone Wrong - Part 3

This was my first shark from the kayak, and after spending 5 minutes trying to remove the hook with pliers and being unable to get it out, I cut the line so that I didn't keep the fish out of the water any longer. I felt that if I kept trying, the shark would suffocate and die. Luckily they were NOT stainless steel hooks and it has certainly rusted out by now. Since this trip, I now pinch down the barbs on my hooks and have removed the hook from about 15 sharks since this trip. It is all a learning experience and I learned a lot from the mistakes I made on this trip. Offshore Trip Gone Wrong: Part 3 I traveled from Corpus Christi up to Galveston, TX in search of my next target: landing a big shark from the kayak. Well, before long I had my first run and I could tell this was the kind of fish I was looking for. I landed my first shark, a nice 6 foot blacktip, but I would soon learn that if you lose your focus for just one second, the ocean will take advantage. My whole world got turned upside down in a heartbeat. literally

Too many folk not reading the description but also, some totally daft comments.
Hooks do not dissolve or rust out in a day or two, especially a dirty great big hook like that. Assuming the tissue around the hook remained viable it would take maybe a year or more for corrosion to cause it to break up sufficiently to come free.
Likewise it is ignorant bunkum to state that Sharks feel no pain - they do not have the same neuro-physiological or cognitive reactions to pain as humans but have been shown to react to pain stimuli - The jury is still out.
Regardless, its not good to release an apex predator with a dirty great hook in its mouth for the next six to twelve months. When all said, read the description folks because this fact is acknowledged, along with future actions for avoidance - ultimately, its no biggie!

I've never seen such an insane comment section full of fisherman that only post a video when stuff goes right, and people who have never been on the water. Did this video get posted on a p. e. t. a. forum?
What is he supposed to do? Cut the hook in half with those little pliers while the shark suffocated out of water? The hook will rust out quickly in the saltwater and the shark enjoys not suffocating. A win- win given the situation. Mistakes were made sure, but i find it funny (pathetic) how people feel virtuous piling on this guy!

Great video. I give you a lot of credit for responding to all the hate comments from misinformed vegetarian inbred retards. I can guarantee these people all have covid. These people obvious fish for sunfish with worms in the local pond. Missing brain cells, chromosomes, and balls

Its crazy how you are still replying to everyones comments on a 6 year old video and you reply to like 80 percent of the comments besides if I fish gets gut hooked and they cant get it out they cut the line so I dont know why u guys are trying to call him out on it

I swear this must have hit a peda website you dont deserve the hate people are ignorant and dont do their research for ONE HOOKS RUST OUT IN a week and usually by 3 days and I WANT TO SAY SHARKS DONT FEEL PAIN! People stop acting like he is suffering

Everbody hate that he let the hook in the shark. But there are other fishers who shoot sharks with a gun go hate on them! If you was him you would do the same.
