Kayak Fishing: Offshore Trip Gone Wrong - Part 2 Valerie: If you're gonna go sharking, get a pair of bolt cutters. Fishing hooks in particular can harbor flesh eating bacteria that will kill a shark, or any fish, slowly and painfully. I've seen this on plenty of dives. Besides that, it's just bad practice to leave a hook in a fish's mouth, causing unnecessary irritation and torment (or just danger if it's set deep. If you really can't get it out on your own, get a good pair of diamond tip bolt cutters, especially if you're going sharking. Don't just cut the line. Sharks are some of the most beautiful fish out there, and their populations are already under duress. Don't make it worse for them or those of us who want to fish for them responsibly.

Great video, and for the one billion fish and sea food out there that have hooks in their mouths. Fish On! Fish, sharks and other water born creatures swallow more then hooks, they have know to eat and swallow tires, plastic and every thing you could think of. keep fishing and great videos.

Don't kill what your not going to keep. Isn't that the rule of thumb. And this dude is leaving hooks in their mouths. You figure with all the resources this guy really has that he can do a better job of just fishing for the sport of it.

after reading the comments about you gaffing the fish as long as you kept it and ate it that's fine but there would be no need to gaff a fish your not keeping, coming from a hunter/fisherman
