Thanks Steve. I got the 5600X because the 5900X was sold out at Micro Center. The fact that the 5600X can oc so high is impressive to me vs. previous generations. I found that just enabling PBO w/+200Mhz gets 4.85 Ghz 4c boosts, 4.80 Ghz - 4.71 Ghz all core under load. While gaming it's the 4c boosts. My go to game is the Division 2. I have other Ubisoft games, it seems to me the mechanics of all the games are the same, Watch Dogs 2, AC Odyssey, and D2. Is it me or what are your thoughts? Anyway this has turned out to be the best GAMING cpu AMD has made to date. Is it too much to do this type of testing tuning on a ITX motherboard? I have the Asus Crosshair Hero VIII Impact and the G Skill Trident 16Gb 3200 I have is 16-18-18-18-36 doesn't seem as snappy as the FlareX 8Gb 14-14-14-14-32. Is there a case 14 2 stick 32Gb kit out there?

Impressive for the price, both of them but obviously the AMD piece. I'm not sure what to make of AMD's use of similar nonculture to Intel, like you know it's supposed to be the competitor for the i5 10600 because its called r5 5600, same with the others, r7 57xx, r9 59xx, it just shows that they think of themselves as being in Intel's shadow, which obviously they are, when we talk about the size of both firms. I don't know what it is about AMD I just can't bring myself to buy their stuff new, and I know I am running out of excuses. I have a i9 9900k and a RTX3080, when the damn thing arrives, so I'm set for another year 18 months, I'll have to see what things are like then, I just worry about support from AMD, and I am 55 I know Intel in and out, the thought of having to learn loads of new stuff puts me off too.

I bought my 10600k on gamersnexus recommendation and i have absolutely loved it, now that ryzen has surpassed intel in gaming (all i do on my pc is game, no work, no editing, no streaming etc etc. so all i care about is gaming performance) i think i will wait to see what intel comes out with in 2021 and if the ryzen 5600 is still the best 300ish gaming cpu ill be switching to that... as always i await GN tests, opinions and recommendations. I do wonder though are we going to see more and more games realistically start to take advantage of multiple cores? Just wondering if, for gaming, it might be smarter to go with the 5800/10700k (or the 2021 intel equivalent if they actually catch up to 5k series in gaming) for future proofing, or will core count remain largely irrelevant for the foreseeable future

While i'm defo not an Intel fanboy nor AMD fanboy, i go with whoever had the best CPU for my needs, so far that's AMD. A better idea would be for Intel to push the memory clock to the highest clock it can sustain, as Intel seems to work better with higher clocked memory, say maybe 4333MHz or higher for Intel and leave AMD at 3800Mhz. while it may not look like a fair comparison in reality it is. Intel can clock higher without losing performance since it doesn't have to worry about infinity fabric.
Ye AMD can clock just as high but because of Infinity fabric, memory and Uclk frequencies working best at 1:1 ratios there is no point going beyong 3800Mhz.
I'd like to see how the 10600K goes with tuned memory running above the 4000MHz range.

I had ZEN 2 R5 3600. Memory overclocking increased gaming FPS nicely. Testing with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided built in benchmark gave me around 20+ FPS boost by overcloking RAM from 2400 to 3800MHz and having infinity fabric at 1900MHz with 1:1 ratio with UCLK.
Now i have ZEN 5 R9 5900X and overcloking RAM from 2400 to 4000MHz with FCLK and UCLK maintaining 1:1 ratio, i have absolutely no gains in FPS. Also tried RAM speeds of 3600 and 3800MHz, again everything 1:1:1 ratio. RAM speed has absolutely no effect on R9 5900X gaming performance in my case. I don't know why.

sadly not everyone is capable i.e. have the knowledge to tune the memory like you do, nor the information about it is easily accessible or understandable enough for the average user. I consider myself tech-savvy and i'm into computers for long time but i'm lost too when i start reading about timings and their interaction. Different motherboard vendors naming some timings differently also adds up to the confusion. So in a way yes the 5600x in this case wins absolutely and totally, but if most ppl cant tune it like this then there's no point.

I can still smoke AMD 5900x/5950x with my B.I.N.N.E.D 10900k 5.3 GHz all day with 4400Mhz Bdie RAM with 50 on the RING
---------> Gooooodbyeeeeee
Shhhhhh don't tell the AMD fanboys who rely on JAY, STEVE & LINUS to promote bogus benchmarks on 3200MHz RAM (because it performs better on AMD) ahahahahaha
AMD is about giving the average consumer the benefit of overclocking without having to understand a damn thing! IE; the best way to continue dumbing down a populous
---------> SMART everything but the people!

tomorrow: same tests, but with a 3800mhz memory kit
next week with a 4000mhz kit (after the bios updates)
oh no... conflict, next week its the 6800XT tests, the week after its the 6900XT and after that the AIB cards...
damn it, the calendar starts to be really full
ok... ask AMD to release the bios update sooner, so you can tet the 4000mhz memory kits this monday...
thanks Intel, you have not released your CPU this month, this grant them some free days to recover!!!

What this means is that both CPUs are great gaming CPUs. Intel 10th gen, to me, is the answer to Zen2. Ryzen Zen3 is the answer to Intel 10th gen. A better performing chip should be expected from the competitor that won the last fight. No one should feel bad if they bought a 10600k. If your PC does what you need it to do and you're happy with it, that's the most important thing.

Hi guys, I have a question if one may be generous enough to answer. MSI Afterburner (latest version) doesn't show CPU temps or clocks, only usage, on my 5600x. Is this just me or is it the same for everyone ? Annd does it have to do with BIOS ver. maybe, cuz I've updated BIOS to the latest ver.. the chipset as well. Mobo is MSI x570 Tomahawk. Thanks in advance :)
