HW News - NZXT Case Safety Issue, GPU Custom Card Supply, & AMD MI100 GPU

Hardware news covers the past two weeks and talks NZXT H1 safety issues, GPU custom card supply from AMD & NVIDIA, the AMD MI100, and NVIDIA A100. Polish: OMG! I wasn't aware that there's been a console infestation at TSMC. Viscous little bastards are eating AMD's wafers with Ryzen CPUs and GPUs ;-p They're small and nimble making getting rid of them a difficult task. Hopefully they'll overheat and ring of deathself or something

I am a huge fan of AMD (partly because I convinced my dad to buy stocks when they were at 11 ), but the more I think about the 6800/6900 cards the less convinced I am.
When you buy a high end GPU these days it's probably because you want the best possible picture quality and that includes raytracing.
I was aboard the hype train and was ready to buy a 6800 to replace my 1080 ti for WQHD. I wasn't able to buy one and I am quite happy about it now.
TBH the 1080 ti is fast enough, if you don't use raytracing. So the 6800 would be a big update, but in all honesty not worth it, because even though it is faster it's not possible to switch to 4k with high fps. And it's not possible to activate raytracing -at least if you prefer high fps.
I bought and installed a Morpheus 2 cooler, so my card runs really quiet now, even at 2 GHz.
I think I will wait for the RX 7800 or RTX 4080.

I preordered a MSI 3070 on amazon on the 6th of november saying stock would return by the 25th. I havent recived any email conformation and after nearly 4 weeks of backorder, I havent gotten any communication from amazon and public comments have been deleted on the store questions page. is there any info on why MSI hasnt restocked in 3 weeks? no one in the US on the amazon page have received their GPUs as all the reviews are on other seller scalping prices or the preorders back on the 6th.
Has MSI commented on imports and amazon stocking issues over the past month? its shipping from Amazon, not Rowland Heights from a MSI subsidiary and amazon hasent given any estimate other than that they would be here by the 25th, which never happened.

re Pluton. Ya, at first glance, a good approach to protect individual and corporate users security ... but wait ...
My ears perked at the 'prevent console users from running pirated games'. Left me thinking.
Is Microsoft seeing a financial future here?
If they can keep users from running pirated games as well as any other software or content (think, Adobe Suite, Antivirus software, their own MSOffice ... and other downloadable content; movies, music etc), with a solution that they control ... they can be paid big time by a company via subscription to include it in the lock out.
Just think about that for a minute.

I dont have to worry about gpu stock at this point. All the money i had saved got spent on vet bills, litter, and wet cat food for the two kittens that i found a month and a half ago beside my house. Graphics are super realistic on the cats though, haptic feedback comes stock with claws, and there's even smell-o-vision........even though i wish i could turn that feature off.

Some of your computer tech is not targeted at gamers... and thank you. I want to know how tech is moving outside the tiny world in gaming. It certainly rakes in the cash but games and military are only the cashcows that keep us learning about the real goodies. I wanna know about all that stuff... and I believe a lot of us do.

I never thought in my life as a die hard PC gamer I would consider getting a Series X over waiting for a EVGA 3090 FTW 3 Ultra. The Series X having 12 Terra Flops of GPU power in something that costs 500. Well compare that with a GPU that costs 1800 for the GPU alone. The Series X would look mighty fine on my 77 LG C9.

Hi Steve, I like to have these type of videos as a sort of podcast and I'd love to ask you if it's possible to move these intros to the end of the videos. Like, I'm fine with the self promotion, because your products are of insane high quality, but not 5-minute intros. Thank you and have a wonderful week!

i was looking at the wafers amd will be using in the 4th quarter this year and it looks like alone they will be 8.5% of TSMCs estimated revenue for the quarter which just shows they are starting to become one of TSMCs larger customers apple im sure is still by far in the lead though

Literally Amazon went in stock minutes ago for the Ryzens and already are out of stock.
These scalpers can starve in a hole for all I care.
Can't these scalpers realize that they're buying far more units than there is actual demand?
