I have a theory based on no information whatsoever. Pure conspiracy.
I think when the original 30 series was announced, someone at Nvidia dropped the ball on how much the card should be worth. Original MSRP was 700 because maybe they thought it wouldn't sell too well. At launch they realized that they'd be losing potentially billions so I believe they fabricated the whole gpu shortage situation and actually held onto all their cards with the intention of slapping a Ti at the end of it, adding a couple more components here and there and upping the price on it. Seeing as how structurally they're aren't to different from the non-Ti, I am convinced I'm right. My prediction is that these cards will continue trickling in slowly to keep up appearances of a gpu shortage. After all, we only have their word to go on.
Again, I know nothing about this situation and am most likely completely wrong.

I was able to snag the EVGA FTW3 version at Microcenter for 1400. It was 1700 for the MSI version and 2000 for the ASUS STRIX version. Normal 3080s were going for 1199! I waited in line from 3am-10am. there were probably 60-120 people at least when they opened. Its crazy. This shortage is very bad lol

Well ti is from titanium, so tie kind of make more sense than t-i, but yea it is weird :P
You forget most important thing about the looks, this time they printed 8 the correct way ;-)
But jokes aside, FE edition of 30XX Series are so nice visually.

if you watch carefully between 4:51 - 5:00, you can see steve taking a bribe of aproximately 200, hidden queasily in the graphics card, from nvidia. i must say i am very disappointed. i think it's been going on for a while now. the signs were there....

I think I've worked out why they pronounced it Tie. They wanted it to sound like a gesture to the customer - and what better gesture than yanking the customers throats leading to strangulation and asphyxiation.

11:06 They probably had components for the board ready to go, but it wouldn't make much sense to partially assemble the board waiting for the GPU. I mean, really the same point either way.

It s crazy that even though it seems most people say Nvidia is crazy and greedy but then it sells out in minutes. If people keep supporting them than they can charge whatever they want.

it's sold here in the Netherlands for 2400 which is 100 more expensive than 3080 which is currently sold for 2200- 2400 this is roughly 2900 so yeah not worth upgrading from my 3080

Thats why I buy me an AMD Card ... even though AMD is the same - at least they dont make it this obvious...
For me, Nvidia has reached the level of Apple - I start to hate them...
