Waste of Money: NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti Review & Benchmarks

The long-awaited NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti GPU is out! of stock. But if you wanted to see what 1200 got a scalper, we ve got our full review of this opportunistic gouge of a video card. When NVIDIA sent its RTX 3080 Ti for review, we didn't yet know the price of the card. Learning of the pricing in the live event really changed the course of the review: At 1200, NVIDIA is opportunistically gouging its customers in a predatory fashion. The RTX 3080 Ti vs. the RTX 3090 is a carefully set narrative, as is the RTX 3080 Ti vs. 2080 Ti or RX 6900 XT -- but versus the RTX 3080 and RX 6800 XT, we see a different story. In this review and benchmark of the NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti Founders Edition card, we'll test noise, thermals, memory temperatures, gaming performance, and power -- but we're cutting the review short because, simply, it's an aggressive push in price that doesn't match the performance hike. ALEXANDER1318: Market: We want 3050's, 3060's & 3070's to fill the demand on the lower end of the spectrum, and lots of them. And preferably something useful priced at 200- 300.
Nvidia: Did you say you wanted more 3080's & 3090's? Priced even higher than the old ones? Because here's a bunch more of those!

I think you have to separate hardware review with pricing reviews. Diminishing returns for cost is always going to exist. So give us the breakdown of how it works, if its reliable, any major issues, etc. Then give us a price/performance breakdown. Simply for the reason that everyone isn't on the same budget. It's always great to work on a budget build and find the most cost effective parts, but that is not why people purchase top tier gaming GPUs.

Not bad compared to 1000 dollars 6900XT. It cost 200 dollar more, but performs better in 4K, much better in RT and support DLSS2.0.
200 dollar more is noting for people who already paying 1000 dollars
yes it is bad value to compared 3080 and 6800XT. But I can say the same for 6900XT. 3080 Ti seems like just nvidia answer to 6900XT and fills the big price gap between 3080 and 3090

every bloody retailer is dealing at 3 times msrp on europe ...why would nvidia just pass on that money? if u cant beat them xD thre should be some actual law to prevent this from happening even trust worthy retailers like caseking overclockers uk r dealing at scalpers price. As long as they r allowed to freely increase price nothing will change not even with more supply.

i payed my 3090 a lot, but right now it's alredy a free video card +400 made in few months, i mean, every video cards witout limiter, no matter how it cost, it's never a bad buy with this cripto prices, i mean, ofc it's risky, crypto could disappear witout any advice, but, we live only once, no?

gotta thank the whole GN team; previously I wouldn't even think twice about trying to buy this thing... Steve's analysis and commentary has educated me to not waste money just because is the newest model
...of course, I won't even try to look it up, I bet these cards are already snatched

NVIDIA's plan to defeat the bots:
1. Flood the market with 3080 Ti cards
2. Bots are afraid to scalp because reviews are negative and MSRP is very high
3. 3080 Ti stock actually stabilizes
4. People stop buying cards from scalpers, and buy 3080 Ti cards instead
5. Profit

the lhr feature on the aib cards should make the 3080 ti and 3070 ti aib models less attractive to miners meaning that scalpers should scalp it less at least until a workaround is found. Hopefully, everyone who wants one can get one at msrp or at least somewhat reasonable price.

imagine paying 500 more for 2gb extra vram and a way worse cooler LOL (it's still beyond me how they thought it would be a good idea to slap the 3080 cooler on what is essentially a 3090 when the latter didn't have good thermals to begin with and it had a beefier cooler....)

thanks steve, thought this (milking for all we got) was going to happen after 1000 series, which was just so darn good.
oh well, i don't mind using my 1000 series card even longer. will see what nvidia has in a year or 2, or amd or intel by that time i guess...
