Valve's Linux push over the last.... 6 years (ish?), has been a big positive for me. It makes me excited to support Valve ... obviously Steam is just my goto game store but that's true for nearly everyone. (Gog would be a close second if they carried anything besides strategy games! exaggeration but still my complaint). But I really wanna buy a Steamdeck, not just because I do enjoy my Switch in portable mode and wish I could play more games and do more on it. But also because I want Valve to be confident it can continue to experiment in the gaming market, investing in Linux gaming, and forcing any other players in PC gaming to rise to their standards of pro-sumer policies and open gaming markets.

Gigabyte - my suggestion: You've already been caught doing something bad. Don't make it worse by trying to cover it up or blame someone/something else. Take responsibility for it and make amends. Follow EVGA's example with the recent 3090's having issues with New World. EVGA did replacements for free. Now that's how you admit you're wrong and handle the situation properly . Do NOT try to cover it up - you will be exposed and you will lose business. It hurts your PR (public relations). Be honest with people and you'll face a whole lot less backlash for it. Otherwise, it's going to drag on and on for years and you'll never live it down.

Is there anyone who has actually successfully obtained compatible TPM module chip for their desktop mobo? I tried, I ordered one and found out it won t even fit. Apparently there are at minimum two pinout formats, one larger and one smaller and boards are using both. There appears to be no generational or other distinction between them, manufacturers seem to be using both at random, if they decide to put TPM pins on their mobo. I totally don t get what Microsoft is trying to do here.

Other prebuilt brands I tend to see at the top of search results are Cobratype (Newegg) and ROG Strix (on Amazon at least). I think there's a 1990 Rog Strix and Cobratype desktops at both the 1000 and 2000 price points.
As far as price points go I'd love to see 1500 - seems like there's some interesting variation at that point whereas most 1000 systems have GTX 1650.

I really hope the wide distribution of the steamdeck will show more publicly that gaming on linux is at a rather good state, much better than a decade ago (largely thanks to newer games relying on Vulkan, and the ever-increasing goodness of Proton). There for sure will be outrages about one or two specific games not working, but the vast majority will be fine.

What pre built? Right now the only thing I have to add is please try to pick ones that look like they might not suck. Some of us may be forced to buy one just to get a card.
Find us the one YOU all would buy if you had to.
Pick a couple good ones!
Thanks guys!

Get more 2k systems to test please! That feels like the bracket where prebuilts are starting to make significant profit for each company, so it will be interesting to see how greedy they get on cutting corners for what should be a premium product.

Been exclusively running Linux for work and home use for many years. The gaming experience in the last year has really improved. I think it's past the will it work territory and well into the polish and fix particular issues territory.

An interesting pre-built would be a System76 Thelio. However, you have to install Linux on all of your other pre-builts in order to compare apples-to-apples. But it would be interesting what you think about their airflow design.

I would really like to see Maingear, Origin, and Digital Storm reviews at the 1000 mark. HP Omen would be fun to watch for the novelty of it. I still probably wouldn't consider one for purchase unless it was a hidden unicorn.
