We're live overclocking the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU with liquid nitrogen, pushing it to 5GHz and beyond. Today, we'll find out what would have happened if the completely outrageous rumors were right. Support our streams via the store! We will read all Superchats during the stream, but PLEASE NOTE THAT WE RUN ON A DELAY. Due to the volume of superchats and active nature of the stream, we read them on about a 30-60 minute delay. You can find the new toolkit here: NEW RYZEN CPU LISTINGS: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (Amazon): AMD Ryzen 5 3600X (Amazon): AMD Ryzen 9 3900X (Amazon): AMD Ryzen 7 3800X (Amazon): AMD Ryzen 7 3700X (Amazon): AMD Ryzen 5 3400G (Amazon): AMD Ryzen 3 3200G (Amazon): Or grab an affordable R7 2700X or R7 2700 Intel's i9-9900K (Amazon):

Steve you are far too distracted by the 'chat' or 'super-chat' -- listening repeatedly to the same things getting read out is like having 'ads' in the video. Except worse; because these ads can 't be skipped and constantly invade the stream. By the 4th time I can feel myself taking a deep breath -- by the 6/7th interruption I am beginning to switch off and lose interest in the stream. I have to force myself to re-engage when the ads are over. -- I mean honestly c'mon, one of the fist superchats asked the CPU model when it's in the title! Other chat participants also answered the question for him 3 or 4 times but you also still had to answer it again too. Sorry but that is NOT adding to the depth/knowledge or interest of the stream -- Instead i found those bits excruciatingly boring.

8: 20 the big tank is also a Dewar. Vacuum insulated, vacuum-sealed is food packaging. Basically a tank within a tank with (low) vacuum in between, as you said. Possibly also heatshield(s)/milar, but usually that's only for storage vessels in the case of LN2, not for transport vessels like this one. The smaller one probably has a lower vacuum (so less vacuum, hence it insulates less. Also the emissivities of the insides will be less favourable. Must say that I don't actually know the actual right terminology, I'm a physicist, not a linguist. At my research chair for superconductivity and cryogenics we usually just call them all Dewars, or simply nitrogen transport vessel. 10: 50 this is because of the Leidenfrost effect, if anyone's wondering: )

Not much of an overclocker for the last 20 or so years, but this brings back memories of a distant past. Back when the Intel 386 roamed the earth. We had heard rumors of a 486 but then those started circulating as son as the 386 was released. Other rumours told of a lab at the intel HQ where boffins laughed insanely as they forced a supercooled 386 to run at 50 MHz. These rumors were spread by whispers amongst PC technicians. No one had ever seen it, but everyone seemed to know someone who knew someone who had a cousin who actually heard someone say they had seen the door to this room. And here we have people trying to drag these new processors into the 5 GHz range, and it's not only a whispered rumour! Times has changed.

So, interesting point, the CPU is marketed like this: AMD RYZEN 9 3900X 12-Core 3. 8 GHz (4. 6 GHz Max Boost) Socket AM4 105W 100-100000023BOX Desktop Processor That's on newegg, which I assume their info for the product is correct. What you got on all-core without PBO is 4. 3GHz. So that is most likely their max frequency setting without PBO, and not OC'd of course. What that means is you should be able to attain 300MHz with PBO with conditions being right, meaning excellent cooling, whereas with 1st Gen about the best you could get was an extra 100 MHz.

Man that psu sucks, just do your self a favor and get a seasonic 1000w prime series titanium/platinum psu, especialy when overclocking i got 2 of them, my old platinum seasonic is like 5 years old and i still did not see it fluctuate voltage its like stuck DOES not move belive me i checked it with multimeter on my R5E with 6950x, and when you extreme overclocking u need that rock stable voltages. Just bought new prime 1000w titanium for new build, they changed caps suplier no more blue hitachis they changed to rubycon: ) just my 2 cents.

Great video as always, I have a question for you and/or the community. Ill be getting the x570 taichi soon as my current b350 is dying so might aswell upgrade. I am using a 2700 atm and plan to upgrade to the 3700x. I have a kit of corsair ven pro rgb 3600mhz ram 2x8. what timings do you think i should be using with the x570, bare in mind ill be using the 2700 for now. I tried the ram in my current mobo with docp set to 3200 and it was crashing in some games, i beleaveit is cl19 but will have to check

I love these liquid nitrogen demonstrations - finding the extreme limits of hardware can certainly be fun and rewarding, but i'm curious what the general OC limits are on normal air/aio cooling on the 3900x. What kind of clocks do you get when you push it on something like a noctua nh-d15 or a quality AIO? - I've seen quite a few aio vs d15 comparisons that show the d15 is a little more effective at removing heat in many situations, is there any reason to go with an aio these days?

1: 04: 33 -- Using leather work-gloves likely causes hands to sweat. Enough LN2 pours onto your arm, it begins to roll down, or sink (in the gas phase, into the glove. While the LN2 itself might not harm you, the sweat inside your gloves freezing might lead to harm. Also might cause gloves to bond with your skin via ice so that your initial quick reaction ripping the glove away from your hand might hurt alot 1: 04: 33

They get close to 0k using FREAKING LASER BEAMS! But seriously, the lasers are calibrated to be a a certain wave length ( or frequency I forget) so that they bump into molecules and slow them down. Once they re slow enough laser does not interact with the molecules so they do not get pushed in the opposite direction. The terminology I used may not be correct but the concept is pretty much that

Although i have built a 3900x 2080ti custom watercooled PC, im happy with the performance, but i feel AMD lied with their CPU. 4. 6turbo boost should be easily obtainable with my setup. Intel maybe more expensive and jerks at the moment, but they are quite transparent with their CPUs. My mates turbos all cores to 5. 0ghz with a Corsair H100i Rip
