No, no it DOES NOT know how many cables are attached to the connector when using the squid. At all. Period. It is literally impossible without the gfx card running advanced emf diagnostics on it unless they're wiring in reference points to the signal pins _within the squid itself._
Using a squid WILL NOT leave the card with the ability to pick an appropriate power target. It will just suck what juice it can.
The reason it didn't POST at all is because by specification. Floating pins (unconnected) means the card cannot use more than 150W. It probably knows it cannot stay in that power window and doesn't post. The squid undoubtedly has the appropriate pins powered to tell the card, yea just go ham .

Thanks for the best review work in the world!
Pretty much exactly double the performance of a 3080 in 4k, with and without RT. Considering the 4090 costs much more than double than the 3080 at msrp, it's looking to be bad value. This said, the 4080 will not be double the performance of a 3080, and is still double the msrp (here in Finland, 750 vs 1500 ). The 4080-4070 bs edition is even closer to 3080, I'm sure, maybe 20% better, and still costs much more.
Nah, I'm good with my 3080 for now. Gonna skip this gen, or get an AMD RDNA3 card if they offer something more competitive with better pricing.

A lot of t anks Steeve . Any master in biology may approve - the human eye will never recognize an difference between 30 fps and 60 fps, and I'll tell you more - human eye will never recognize the difference between 60 fps & 100 fps. And much more - human eyes will never recognises the difference between 4k and 8k. So? It's a dead end for personal computer And yeah with AI technologies you may have 108 fps but your mous will still work with the delay. Why? Because real FPS is still the same - native, like in native FullHD. (I'm not an native speeker, so go on, may treat me )

22:59 this is why! that is why they don't want to release the 4080's yet. Because you can buy a 3090ti at 1000-1300, or probably the price of the 4080 one of the two versions, by only allowing their cards first, it allows for everyone to look and be like oh shit i want that, or oh shit 3090ti is worth it... then if they buy 3090TI then the 4080 which outperforms the 3090TI which costs maybe the same or slightly lower ... yeah people will def. be frustrated. these 30 series card need to come down in price if they want to liquidate if the benchmark keep the way they are

Nice leap but at 2000 never buying it. Was temped with the real 4080 price being insane this gen. Guess I'll skip both and carry on with my 800 launch 3080. Maybe my interest is waning but very few games in the pipe over the next 12mths I feel justify that outlay. Happy to drop DLSS down a step and play on High instead of Ultra to hit 60fps. 120/240 fps in demanding single player games is a total waste.
Maybe eye up the 407...ahem...4080 12GB. If it can hit 30% boost avg in raster and DLSS 3.0 is half as good as advertised.

Generally saying MOSFETs can take 120C okay is missing the point and a little understanding on why temperature is an issue for electronics in general but power devices specifically. The amount of heat output from the FET (heat dissipation) is derated with temperature which means technically FETs can operate at 120C but with what power dissipation budget (SOA)? This depends on the PSU, the load design and the FET used so a FET will work fine at 120C in one design but only 80C in another design.

I love it at 5:35 when he throws away the gaming chair to use the simple one; it's just a classic moment there. It's great that the spike in pure rasterization is real, but it feels that there is no innovation here because the power consumption, size, and price also increased exponentially. I would be surprised and willing to give them my money if they can achieve the same with much less heat and size. I hope AMD does better and that ARM architecture also provides some competition.

Insane raster performance without using advanced features like RTX and DLSS over the previous gen. This is the first card I can remember that actually EXCELS in higher res testing/use vs declines in it. You need to game this thing at 4k maxed out to see the true gains from it.. things you could never do with even the highest end cards from the 3000 series. Huge, huge jump in performance. I hate nvidia as much as the next guy, but they absolutely killed it with the card.

Another amazing video from the depths of the Great AI we call Steve. The only sad thing about the 4090 is the manufacture. Due to their price gouging last year and their current prices as well as their disrespect of the computer master race, including EVGA, I am actively boycotting Nvidia. Looking forward to the new cards from AMD and rooting for the Intel cards. Thank you for all your time and hard work in putting these videos together. Be happy be safe

If you are in the market where you need a new GPU: Buy RTX 3000. Much better price/performance right now!
If you already have a 3090 or 3090ti: Skip RTX 4000 entirely. It sounds impressive, but do you really need it?
If you are a hardcore enthusiast like me: Skip RTX 4000 entirely. We're in a recession. Save the money for bad days!
So no matter how you turn it around: Let's show NVidia that we are not up to their crap anymore.

Der Bauer kind of showed why boardpartners will not get much more performancr with extra power. He showed the power to performance curve. And it showed that more power will not yield a lot more performance. Because the founder's edition is already at the point of deminished returns. Decreasing power limit 30% only makes the card perform 5% less fast. Its already maxed out on the founder's card.

Performance is better than i expected. Price we know is skewed due to many factors and may change.
However I'm considering changing up my 3070 to 3080 or 3090 (which are now similar in cost). The question i had, the benchmarks for 3080 are very high compared to 3070 - Is the colourful bilibili a representative 3070 card or is it terrible? I've never heard of that company but it sounds awful

It's just another selling point gimmick. Nvidia's pushing out graphic cards like Apple pushes iPhones. Wow, that's sad and btw, iphones are way overpriced. Better off buying an unlocked phone for 400 otherwise your being scammed on payments and interest. Is everyone going to start buying a new graphics card every year like everybody gets a new iPhone that they don't need

Good Review, but I really wish you would have shown MSFS 2020. I only use my PC for flight sim with MSFS 2020 and Xplane. Since MSFS is optimized for DLSS 3 it would have been nice to see those improvements given by you. PLEASE do this game when reviewing the 40 series vs AMD GPU s next month so us flight simmers can make an educated decision. THANKS

What possible motivation would a power supply manufacturer have in telling rumors about high power transients.....hmmm, let me think! At your 40% tested transients, quite a few folks already have a power supply that can handle it- but at the rumored 2.5X transient, not so much the case. It's like trusting a dentist that tells you to drink Coke.
