NVIDIA RTX 4060 & RTX 4060 Ti Specs: VRAM, Price, Release Date, & Cache

Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
NVIDIA today announced its GeForce RTX 4060, RTX 4060 Ti 8GB, and RTX 4060 Ti 16GB. The release date is May 24th for the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB, with the RTX 4060 and 4060 Ti 16GB launching in July of 2023. The Prices are 400 for the 4060 Ti 8GB, 500 for the 4060 Ti 16GB, and TBD for the RTX 4060. Remember: AMD is launching its own Radeon RX 7600 in short order, according to rumors online, and that should slow-in under these new NVIDIA cards. We'll have a review of the RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti cards as soon as we get them, including benchmarks against alternatives and older models. In this video, we'll cover specs, prices, NVIDIA's cache vs. bandwidth argument, and some basics of how a GPU works. We also talk about our problems and disagreements with NVIDIA's data presentation.

The 16gb is already underpowered and nerfed memory bandwidth. This thing won't even be able to max out settings at 1080p when it's brand new! Even my 2060 super could do that at 1440p!
The 16gb should never have been more than 400 with the 8gb at 300/350. The base 4060 is basically a 4050ti and the 4060ti is completely useless with 8gb. The 4070 was bad but this blew away even my low expectations from the leaks

So it appears the 4060Ti 16GB is what the 4070 should have been, the 4080 should have also been 16GB, and the price is probably the maximum that the 4070 should have been as well. Awesome. Can't wait for their short run of the 4060Ti 16GB to get sold out immediately in the hype train marketing of 2023. I'm sure all of this isn't highly confusing and baffling to anyone who just shelled out 600 for the 4070.

When the core is barely strong enough to warrant current and next gen 1440p+ performance, I guess you can abate the frothing hardware nerds who don't test or play games by doubling VRAM because tech press drove everyone into a tizzy.
It is trash that it took this long to get VRAM increases, there's way more wrong with this gen than lack of VRAM.

Perfect timing. Do you guys think the pump on a liquid CPU cooler creates a magnetic field?
Then do you think this magnetic field has an affect on the CPU? As in by creating any sort of anomalies or disturbing the flow of electricity through the CPU transistors, or might turn some 0s into 1s? Maybe even negligibly reducing performance?

100 more and an extra month for the version the card should be?
Nvidia have 3 SKUs where they should only have 1. Why even release the non-Ti if its coming after the Ti, and why bother with the 8gb? Ony reason i can come up with is they had poor yield on the dies and needed lower skus to offload the misprints

reply

The fact that they made 4060 Ti with 16GB of RAM, while their higher end cards 4070 and 4070 Ti languish at 12GB is laughable.
I mean, it's good that there is an option to get a 16GB midrange card, but what were they thinking with the 4070s?
16GB for 4080 is also inadequate for such a high end card.

Ah yes, Nvidia finally gave into the pressure and are offering higher VRAM... on a card that will probably still be stomped by last generation cards that ARE gimped on VRAM. We basically can't win - but at least the pressure is getting through to them.

Tempted to sell my 3080ti and downgrade to the 4060ti if it has more VRAM as I never game anymore but need decent 1440p performance for actual work & wouldn't mind being able to game occasionally. Also lower power is a bonus
reply

Oh look, yet another card that validates my purchase of a refurbished 3070 Ti
Only people still in the GTX 10s or the first RTX 20s would get this card, and even then they probably would get a 4070 or 4080

reply

The Ti stands for technical improvement? If so, why does it release before the base model even has pricing? Sounds like the 4060 non-Ti isn't worth selling. I'll go with that, thanks Nvidia
reply

The 16GB 4060 is the only card thus far that might be _almost_ reasonable from Nvidia this gen. Almost reasonable because even accounting for inflation it's priced more like a 70 class card.
reply

As someone who owns and uses a 3060 Ti on a daily basis, DO NOT buy the 8gb 4060 Ti. Please, for the love of all things good and righteous, do not buy the 4060Ti 8gb. Don't do it. Just don't.
reply

AMD succeeded in trolling Nvidia into a useless and overpriced high-memory config just in time to announce an 8GB meme card themselves. Great work, everyone.
reply

Who would pay 400 for a card that is borderline obsolete on lunch? How will you be able to sell this card in 2025 on a used market? People will give 80 for it.
reply

Theres more 4090 issues. NorthridgeFix has been replacing connectors by the handful from burning up, even when fully connected via cablemod
