An attempt at constructive
criticism, hopefully.
Steve, what the hell are you talking about! You use so many abbreviations, like ilm, and so much pro jargon that you need to be a computer engineer to follow you.
So for those of us who are listening to your reviews for the purpose, in part, to make purchasing decisions could you please simplify so one doesn't feel the need to have a masters degree in engineering in order to follow your reviews.
Better yet why don't you, at the end of the review, have Mike give a summary, ala Garrett Morris style.
You're probably too young to remember the first years of SNL but Garrett would do his close caption for the hearing impaired routine during the news portion of the show.
Dan Aykroyd would say something and on the upper right of the screen Garrett's face would appear and he would repeat what Dan had said, cupping his hands around his mouth and speaking loudly and slowly.
Maybe during the summary you could be speaking in your 'normal' high speed professional jargon/gibberish style while Mike's face appears in the upper right of the screen, cupping his mouth with his hands and yelling slowly and reinterpreting, in plain English, what you said.
Just a thought.

Hmmm the perceived difference in audibility for the how well a sound can be heard relative to where it sits on the decibel scale is a matter physics and the inverse square law not psycho-acoustics. Psycho-acoustics is where you manipulate soundwaves to create unique phenomena that is specific in it's intended effect to a listener like active noise cancelation. it's an aside but still. There is nothing unique about the decibel scale that only pertains to psychoacoustics as the effect of volume difference of sound is not limited to what can be perceived which if it was then yeah it would be matter of psychoacoustics not just regular physics. Try not to get that stuff mixed up it's easily done.

Would really love to see a test done on 7800x3d or 7700x. I know you guys are using the 3 series AMD chip since thats where you have most of your data, but due to the different position of the chiplets, a lot of the new coolers suck at cooling the newer AMD chips, at least when compared to others. I had to get an offset bracket for my cooler, since without it the temps were awful. However when I built my roomate's PC and bought a cooler that had the new AMD design already in mind, his performed much better. So It would be nice to see how these perfrom on up-to-date platfroms.

The LFIII is an amazing cooler, no question about it, Arctic makes some of the best AIOs on the market in my opinion, but I am really excited to see what the new Noctua NH D15 will achieve. With the new 140mm Noctua fans that will be included on it, denser fin stack for better cooling and 8 heatpipes, its going to be a beast. I don't expect it to beat the 360 mm LFIII, thats a bit unrealistic to wish, but if it is within 2 to 3c of the 280mm LFIII , that would be impressive for an air cooler. Hopefully, we can know if I am right this year with no more delays.

Here in Europe the prices seem to be aligned already with the Liquid Freezer 2 series.
Anyhow there is a small difference between the black and A-RGB versions of this new cooler: since Arctic is using off-the-shelf fans, the A-RGB fans are technically a bit louder, since they spin 200 RPM higher than the black version (1800 RPMs vs 2000 for the A-RGB).
It will not be make a huge difference, specially considering that most people will not make the fans spin at 100% anyways, but I think it Is still worth mentioning it.

I love this. They've addressed literally all the annoyances I had with the original Liquid Freezer 2 - that being the ugly pump housing design and cheap looking tubes with the grey stripings. Now it finally looks great, has great performance, and a competitive price. Lovely!
They also didn't go out and slap a $5 LCD screen on it and charge double the price, nor did they name it some obscure pseudo-scientific amalgamation of made-up words.

I realize the monolithic die Ryzen APU's are not common and are not the hottest chips in the Ryzen lineup but at least some are unlocked.
Has Arctic, or anyone else, tested what happens when you put a monolithic die APU under an offset cooler I could see someone who isn't very well informed on these matters getting something like the 8700G, because its the newest, and one of these Liquid Freezer AIO's and I'm curious what would happen.

These Artics are nice and all, and do have great performance. But I went with a Deepcool LS720 for a huge 90% percentage of the same peformance, for $60 on sale. This is the same sort of math Steve uses to measure how much it costs a new GPU to eke out those single-digit frame bumps. I am thrilled will what I got for my 60 bucks. It keeps my 5800X within a couple C of what an Artic 2 would have given me for twice the cost.

I would like to see at least one high end custom water loop sample. Less about the radiator, and more a comparison for coldplate with higher flow to gauge the performance of these CLC coolers. Easy to claim best when the pool is limited. interested to see comparison with the actual best cooler for the CPU (without delid), or known good block like Heatkiller IV that can be compared to other blocks easily.

uhm, It seems that Arctic is running some sales for the Liquid Freezer III, at least here in Germany, you can get a Liquid Freezer III 360 with tax and shipping for under 80, thats crazy imho, I have a NH-D15 already, which does just fine for my use case, but i wouldnt have that, for that price, the Arctic AIO would be a no-brainer.
Curious to see how the pumps hold up over the next few years

Can You PLEASE do a project mounting a Noctua FAN on the GPU PLEASE. I've been wanting to do this for a long time. I don't like ANY stock GUP fans; too loud, average thermal compound, average fans, average heat spread, and I reckon, putting a Noctual fan on it will reduce AT LEAST 10 20 degrees with handpicked thermal paste, direct to die cooling, and bespoke work. What say you, Steve

It would also be interesting how the VRM fan influences the temperature of the SSD in the first slot. At least some airflow should reach it. And with SSD cooling getting kind of ridiculous with some manufacturers (heatpipes and small fans) could be an additional selling point for Arctic.
Perhaps one can even trade off VRM thermals with SSD thermals when rotating the head 180 degrees

Lately I've been researching and studying custom water coolers, I've come to the conclusion that a Custom WaterCooler with a 240mm/30mm radiator outperforms any sealed Watercooler, imagine making one with a 360 or 420 radiator.
This is for those who want to cool an i9 or R9 CPU well, for others, some 360 sealed ones will do the trick.
Thanks for the video Steve.

major blow to AMD....they lost over -10% of stock value...thus turn a huge loss of 20 billion in value, its gonna get lot worst this year for AMD when 7900xt prices and 7900gre devalue will cost AMD hugely by 3rd party vendors that eat up their profit margins when its good for consumer , bad for companies that each card sold as a loss of -$100 dollars

I wonder what the temperature delta between a poor mount (but still fitted correctly) and a perfect mount with the same cooler would be, and whether it's worth the extra anxiety of never really knowing if i've done a good job or not
Edit: The pressure maps offer some peace of mind as they could also uncover the likelyhood of it happening

I have 360 LF II and so far I am really happy with it. Mainly because the price was comparable to high end air coolers but adding those 20 to the price is actually noticable in the performace compared to those. Also you can use the fans on radiator as exhaust or intake so you can even save money compared to the high end air cooler.

11:49 the good idea is to use a mouse button click for comparison. During pump noise audio recording, you click mouse button from time to time. Then when you boost volume up during editing- we still will be able to recognize a reference point, because we all know what is the correct volume level of the mouse button click.

to be honest, I would rather have a super tedious installation that guarantees the best possible contact, than the opposite (talking AMD here, not interested in intel)
I install the cooler and forget it for 3 years, so might as well have the best possible cooling even if it takes an hour more to install

I have the most recent iteration of freezer 2 and have been moderately underwhelmed with it. It's a little quieter but not much more cooling/heat dispersion that any other aio I've used.
It's decent. I just don't think what I'm looking for exists on an aio. What I'm looking for is Quiet quiet QUIET!

I'm currently using an LF 2 240 with a 14900k with a thermal right contact frame, its ok for gaming but gets a little bit warm, mid 70s, im wondering if its worth it to upgrade to the 280mm LF3, its the biggest that will fit in my case because I have a 4080 taking up space to put a 360mm AIO
