open source renegade is wild
too bad it had difficulty maintaining a community with all the weird ownership transfers, requiring you to do weird shit with keys and whatnot to be able to join servers at all.
first it was just westwood, everything was fine.
then westwood gave ownership to the servers and authentication off to another third party company, citing that it will stop any development. So now you had to go make an account on this third party website and give it your product key.
then westwood sold C&C to EA. which then they started selling Renegade on Origin, but it didn't even give you a product key at all. Meaning you could not join multiplayer servers, because the ones that were running the community made anti-cheat would kick you if you didn't have a product key. (really wild that they have access to that info in hindsight, lmfao)
I do believe this was eventually fixed, but by the time I was able to play the game again, there was only like, 1 server that had like 6 or so players on it. Nothing at all like the multiple 32 player servers you'd see running at a time.
then it was available on steam as singleplayer only. not sure if that's changed or not since i last looked.
I hope it's doing better now though.

Obviously they’re faking their graphs. If they in fact did ship more units than the 4000 series why is it I was able to get my 4090 trio when it came out No problems and at msrp at Microcenter but at launch in Chicago we got 0 5090’s. Yes a city as big as Chicago got ZERO on release date. Luckily I’m good friends with the manager so he told me ahead of time not to waste my time even going but you can look for yourself the shipping logs. It’s Unbelievable how they Artificially created Scarcity just to Inflate the Actual value and that’s even with the removal of Physx. They’re so Anti-Consumer I will Never be buying Another Nvidia product unless they stop Artificially creating scarcity causing Pc gaming to be Unnecessarily Niche when by 2025 it should be Accessible to Everyone and with Physx being brought back. That’s the way games Are meant to be played Not Gamers are meant to be played.

The first PC game I played was C&C tiberium dawn, installed on my mothers windows 95 PC. I didnt know there was a game speed scale and it defaulted to REALLY slow but not knowing any better and being 7 years old I accepted it and played through the first 5 missions or so at excruciatingly slow speed. My brother was playing it while I was out one day and found the speed scale and my mind was blown when he showed me later haha. To this day I still haven't finished the Nod campaign, I never liked the unit structure of them and so many of their missions are so insanely difficult I just cant bring myself even now!
Nothing comes close to the nostalgia of the first game's soundtrack, it is still just god tier. Halo CE is the only other OST that is remotely close but C&C OST is GOAT

On a side note, Nvidia has their launches backwards, It seems. Back in the day, it made sense to look forward to new series releases. But Nvidia started treating their new series releases as an early access Ponzi scheme.
Lately, it just makes Way more sense to treat the mid scope Super variant releases as the primary main series releases because that's when Nvidia is looking to make money off of the majority of consumers. I wouldn't even pay attention to the 5070 or 5070 Ti and would much rather look towards the 5070 super, the 5070 Ti super, the 5080 super, and the 5080 Ti super because those are going to be the four cards where Nvidia is magically going to start caring about consumers.

My first RTS was WarGames Defcon 1. Loved it, and C&C, i dont care if yall dont like Generals/Zero Hour, it was a great game too, sure maybe it should have come as a different franchise but that doesnt change the fact that its a fun game.
Honestly surprized C&C source was released, you can still buy and play them, unlike Battlefield Vietnam through 2142 where you're no longer allowed to (legally) install them
(you're in luck if your original PC still works, because its only the install that is blocked by DRM servers being down, mine died in 2019 and was promptly furious when i found i wasnt allowed to play the games i had been playing 2 weeks earlier)

There is not a supply problem there is a demand problem. And that problem is our investors, board, employees, and largest customers demanding we not make gaming cards, and instead make AI and workstation cards for far far FAR higher MSRP per die area than even the 5090
-Nvidia
Also AMD, but for CPUs, that $599 9700XT could have been turned into 5x R7 9700X, or turned into a $3694 EPYC CPU(of note, this does not include the IO die, but that is cheap in comparrison to the RAM, cooler, VRM, board, and licenced video ports on the 9700XT)

Funny that Nvidia says that they fixed blackscreen Problems. Since i got my 5080, my 3 Monitor setup is having massive Problems. The Main Monitor (Middle) is running with 240hz and the left an right run at 144hz. Since i got the 5080 the left an right Monitor are going off and on for around 1 Second when i literally move my Mousewheel or use chrome or move the Chrome Window around. The only fix was, setting the left Monitor to 120hz and the right to 85hz. Never had that Problem with my 4080.

Meta is trying claim it's not distributing the torrented content, but the product they trained on this content is meant for consumer use so any claims that they're not distributing it go out the window.
In regard to the dystopian hellscape, it's even worse considering people generally trust information from something that they perceive as reputable or more intelligent than them. A lot of people are already utilizing AI for their information source.

Actually EA has a surprising number of people doing nice things, those people just have no access to any important decisions, so it only shows in instances where it isn't important enough for people up top to bother or where it is a specific initiative more or less walled off from the rest of the company. So small isolated flickers of transient light in a bottomless abyss of soul devouring darkness.

18:24 please don't pull a Linus and not know what the definition of piracy is. Piracy is not just downloading, it is distributing the material. That is the literal definition.
Online piracy or software piracy is the practice of downloading and distributing copyrighted works digitally without permission, such as music, movies or software.

Steve, love your enthusiasm on C&C and the fact we both love these titles so much. Remastered is absolutely fantastic and many of us hope they remaster RA2.
I do have to call out one thing and maybe you already know this. In order to honor the legacy of C&C we, C&C fans, refer to C&C4 as the one that shall not be named

A rare W for gamers.. and from Electronic Arts no less, the company that used to be voted as the most hated companies multiple years running, there is either a huuuuge catch down the line, or someone with a soul just got promoted into a position of power, lets hope for the no catch

Lol comparing it to a time only 4090 and at the bend in the 40 series graph only 4090 and 4080 was available, while now the 5070(Ti) is also available.
If they only sold double with more budget cards available this time that's actually terrible news they try to spin as a positive!

Did nvidia app method, ddu method and direct download method. Everything i own, my 4060 ti, my 3 3090s, my brother’s 1080 ti, my friend’s 1080 and even my mom’s 750 ti. All get black screens on every release after 566.36 even the one on march 5th that states it fixes it.

Thanks Steve, welcome to the world I have been considering from pretty much the start of AI. It gets worse, some time from now....AIs owned by mega corps, will do what Maximize profit....what is the most expensive part of business humans! ...I will let you all stew on that.

NVidia: We sold twice as many of the 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti and 5070 combined as we did the 1600 dollar 4090 in the same period.
Me: Oh look it's multi sale generation inflating performance numbers again. I guess the 5070 really is performing the same as a 4090. In sales.

I don't like the fact they say 92% say that DLSS is used. That feels misleading as u guarantee there r people that don't even know it was on.
I play Forza Horizon 5 on my PC and every time I start the game, it silently turns back on DLSS and all that crap

Its misleading and its a lie, they could have selled twice the 4000 series, but its because 4000 series only release 4090 and 4080 on the start, and this time on 5000 series we had the 5070 TI, and middle range card sell a lot more than the high-end cards.

I really hope people actually do something with Command & Conquer. I was really sad when it turned out the remasters EA did were essentially just downgraded re-skins of the original; they didn't just keep the old buggy AI, they somehow made it worse.
