PDF files are notorious for being a pain to edit. Thankfully, HowTech is here to show you two different and easy ways to modify your PDFs. Lets say you have a PDF file, but no software to edit or highlight it. Well first show you the paid method and the free method. Lets get started with editing the PDF.
If youre serious about editing PDFs then you will need Adobe Acrobat Pro. Adobe developed the PDF format, so it makes sense that they would have the best software to edit them. Keep in mind that the paid version is required to edit.
1. Open the PDF with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
2. To edit, click Edit PDF on the right toolbar. You can now edit each text block.
3. To close Editing mode, click the Close button in the top right.
4. To highlight, select the text you wish to highlight and click the left-most button on the tooltip or right-click and hit Highlight text.
The next software is LibreOffice Draw. It is part of the LibreOffice Suite that you can download from their website Its open-source, free software that can do a lot more than edit PDFs.
1. Download and install LibreOffice
2. Open LibreOffice and drag-and-drop the PDF into the window to open it up with LibreOffice Draw.
3. To edit, simply go into the text and edit. LibreOffice Draw starts in editing mode.
4. To highlight, select the text and then click the highlight button in the context menu to the right.
If you are really serious about PDFs you might want to look into getting Adobe Acrobat Pro. If one-time or occasional editing is your thing, look into LibreOffice as a good, free alternative.
