We will show you how to filter data in Google Sheets. The filter option allows you to temporarily hide some of the data in a table, without effecting the original data, so you can focus on the data you want to see. Lets say we want to filter all the sales in the enterprise segment above fifty thousand, being shown in ascending order. With the filter functionality, we can create this view without changing the order of the original data. Lets select the entire table here, and click on the Create a filter option. With that done, you can see the filter icon next to every heading in the table here. Clicking on the icon will open up the filter menu. Over here, you can either filter the data according to the color, a condition or by the values appearing in the column. We want to filter the segment to only see the enterprise sales. So lets open this option and clear the selection first. After that, lets choose the Enterprise option here and click on OK. You can see that the entire sheet is filtered and only shows the data for enterprise sales. Next, we only want to see sales data above fifty thousand dollars. So lets open the filter menu in the amount column here. Lets expand the filter by condition option here and open up the drop down menu. Here, you can see a lot of conditions to filter your data by. Lets find and select the greater than option. After that, lets enter fifty thousand and click on OK. You can see that the sheet is filtered out to only show sales in the enterprise segment which is above fifty thousand dollars. You can open up the filter menu here and save the filter view option. This way, the original data sorting will not be changed. We can give the filter view a name and now we can make changes to how the data is sorted. So, for example lets head back to the amount filter menu and click on the ascending option here. Once done, simply click on the close button here to go back to the original view of the data. You can turn off the filters and see that the original data remains unchanged. To go back to the filter view, simply open up the filter menu and the filter view saved earlier would be displayed here. Clicking on it will open up the filter view showing only enterprise sales above fifty thousand dollars. Thats all! Would you like to know about any particular Google Sheets feature?

I have cells in table B that equal cells in Table A. a filter is applied to Table A and all the numbers get rearrange, because of this the values in Table B also change, I don't want the values in table B to change, i want the cells in table B that i have linked to table A to always show the original values of the cells they were linked to regardless of the filtered arrangement. so my question is how do I keep the cells in table B that have been linked to table A to follow the original values before the filter was applied?

I've been using Notepad++ for this because I can't figure it out in Sheets. I have to filter out all lines containing a specific word, but Sheets only lets me filter by one column at a time. Which means I'm unable to filter two columns, because the first filter will hide lines that I don't want hidden.
All I really want is to remove all lines that don't contain one specific word. And the word can show up in more than one column. It's so simple

I'd like to know how to filter by parts of words. That is, if my table column contains words like fixture, mixture, mixing, and tincture, how would I filter by words containing the letter x? Or by words ending in ture? Or by words NOT ending in ture?
reply

1: 27 Filter by condition > Text does not contain > Is there any chance we can filter the two words separately?
for example; text1 OR text2; Columns with text1 and text2 will not appear
