Debian 10 Buster Release and Install - Chris Titus Tech In this video, we go over the brand new release Debian Buster and go through the installation Rene: Hi there Chris,
Nice Video, i use Debian since about 1997/1998 first years only for servers. (Web/PHP/MySQL etc. ) After switching to Windows 7 i got a bit an argu with MicroSoft. They blocked my key while i was testing out some RAID controllers. They literally forbid me to install Windows that often.. So i kicked Windows out my system/house and switched in 2009/2010 completely to Linux ( Linux Mint) i'm using only Linux now.
Just writing this for sharing. And a quite little Request.
I'm Using SSHFS a lot but not really find a good tutorial for it on YouTube i'm not able and convenient in making tutorials so maybe its an Idea for you to make a short clear tutorial for others how to use SSHFS it's really a fine -gadget/tool- to quickly transfer some data. Without configuring a lot of Samba or NFS stuff beforehand.
For example i'm mapping a folder to my web-server and real-time editing PHP / HTML when hitting CTRL+S the server is real-time updated -
Again i don't need the tutorial on this for myself but would like to point out to an good YouTuber where to find it. For friends / forum members / FaceBook group members.
Kind Regards, From the Netherlands

Very interesting. I use (K)Ubuntu since the beginning (with a stop those past years where I was on Mac). Now, I want to go back to linux, but I really don't like the path Ubuntu is taking (yes, I'm talking about you Snap) and am looking for the right distro for me.
I see vanilla Debian still comes with a lot of stuff pre-installed, I would have hoped it would be a more frugal install of KDE.
I have a question, are you solely on APT on your Debian, or did you install flatpak? (and if yes, what criterion do you use to chose flatpak over APT when you need to install a program?) - I'm still trying to get my head around those new techs, I don't like them so much, I just loved having just APT like back from the old days...

I gave several chances to Arch based distros, not like Arch or Gentoo, too much hustle for me, but like Sabayon, Manjaro... And I always gave up. I don't have time to fix little bugs all the time. That's something for younger people, who have time to learn new skils. I'm more of a guy who likes to forget what version am I even runing. So like some LTS Ubuntu based distros, like Ubuntu Mate or Lubuntu, or even LMDE or even Debian. Just sit, work, and today you can even have a blast here and there, with GOG or Steam.

HOPE that debian works better than ubuntu. I'm literally dying changing distro to distro for stability and anaconda 3 support.
Also I had to skip from OPen suse because of nvidia improper support. I just hope I get along with it.
I skipped from ubuntu because of weird -problem- notification popping up everytime.

Good video. Installed Debian 10.5 Cinnamon non free on a netbook yesterday. Great so far. Used a Windows utility called Ventoy to create a multi boot flash drive with this ISO plus the mate and xfce iso images. Pretty cool utility. Only use Windows for creating bootable flash drives and ripping CDs to FLAC.

Before root there is a stage where you are asked to load a network driver from media or else choose one from a list of three. After choosing Atheros it then tries to connect you to your local network. It may ask you for a network password. On entering it, the installation process then resumes.

So if i get debian non free all the basics of an OS are there, like media codecs, printer/device connectivity etc. Sooo i don't actually need ubuntu at all? What about performance? It should be faster than PopOs with both with out of the box configurations?

Can someone please explain what is ment with -vanilla- debian ? I can not find a straight awnser on google. I understand it is a pure form of something, now is it debian without a desktop environment? Or is it gnome with kde?

I've been trying periodically, over several months, to install Debian 10 without success. I always got the message that I was missing firmware. Thanks to you, I now know why. It's up and running fine now.
