Now I'm really new to both PC building and OS installation and I've tried Linux for the first time (Ubuntu) about half a year ago (found out it's awesome BTW), so I really wanted to make a Linux setup on my new PC. I've made some research, watched some videos and tried some stuff on the old laptop which was not so scary to tinker around with as it is basically useless and no one uses or needs it. Got some exp and decided to try it all on the new PC at last.
Installation went smooth, Linux Mint Cinnamon (as suggested by many as the easiest one for new users and also simplest one to use for gaming and it felt just natural to me and super easy to use etc.) was installed successfully, both 120GB SSD and 4TB HDD were running fine and Steam was running most of my games (-90%) using Protone feature just fine as well. However after I've installed seemingly everything and it all was working fine I've encountered problems with Ubisoft's launcher, which was essential for the couple of my favorite games (no, not la'sassy el cerdo ). First I couldn't make it get installed with Wine on my HDD as it couldn't find it (even after finding it in the Wine's settings and making accessible) with the correct space available (showed less then 256MB on a 4TB HDD) even after being formatted for both Win and Linux usage in the Mint's Discs management feature (originally was formatted for Linux only). But I've managed to install it on the SSD. However it refused to run properly: after launching via Wine the boot screen was just flashing from green to white and back for about 15 min, then an error was occurring (no codes, just error message about the app not running correctly and being forced to shut down). Re-installation didn't help so I was cut off of all of my Ubisoft's games library. Also some troubles were with Epic Games launcher installation.
At that point even though I really liked how Linux OS was (it feels just natural if it is even possible to say so about a program) I've decided to try Win 10 for the first time in my life. I never used it before (max - Win 8.0), never wanted to as honestly Win OS after XP sucks, but well... Yeah. Now I'm running Win 10... :(
But at least everything works now...

Just wanted to leave a big thank you for sharing your great experience and knowledge to new users. Without your recommendation, I wouldn't have tried PopOS for my really old gaming PC. Before I was using Mint but could not get my old hardware to work on almost any game that used to run well under Windows. With PopOS, most my old Windows Games run out of the box very decently (of Course, Proton does the rest). So the Distribution really made a change for me here as I really did not know how to fix things, as a newbie.... so please continue on with your series, you really make it all very clear and simple...

sadly linux actually isnt good for gaming, or a gamer, sure, you can get games to work perfectly, but its very restrictive, you want to play anything using BattleEye? not happening.., what about easy anti cheat? to my knowledge its also not happening, sure theres a good amount of games that work, but there are ALOT of games that dont work... ontop of that some games just dont perform good on linux
while yes you can be a gamer and use linux, the statement -linux isnt good for gaming- compared to windows is absolutely correct

To answer the guy asking about the live arch iso with gnome, you can create it yourself using 'archiso', you can roll your own arch installer with it, customize the iso as needed / wanted, then setup the iso to pass along all your dotfiles, and configs, etc into the new install that gets created from the install process....HOWEVER you must be fairly profficient in shell to write the code youll need to make it happen....im working on such a project myself, but with KDE

Hi Chris The -ll- command I came across it, when I worked on Solaris 5.5 was part of the alias file. That was 1994-1995. I add it to HPUX 10 alias file where I worked at a Telecom company that currently doesn't exist. Enjoy your videos. Quick question. I have an old 8 bay tower, (24- tall) plan to use for a NAS system. Looking for an OS to run it. Folks I talked to recommend FreeNAS. Have you use this OS? Is there others you would recommend? Have a good day eh?

I just upgraded my GPU to a 5600 and Mint can't support that right now so I had to change to Manjaro and I've never used it before and I'm still new to linux in general. soooo A BIG THANKS.. you got a sub and a like today. I could get most everything except the hard drive to steam games so thanks a million. I am glad I can play Ghost recon wildlands on linux a huge plus to me.. love the open world gameplay

Hello, tortured soul here. When I do a neofetch, I'm showed 2 GPUs installed on my machine:
Intel HD Graphics 530
NVIDIA Quadro M2000M
At 52:50, should I install the driver(s) for Intel, NVIDIA, both, or neither? I've already installed the wine support in the previous step. I'll do my reading, but any direct advice is appreciated.

When it comes to installing a Linux operating system, It does not contain any drivers, at all in regards to the AMD image, you have to install them, although the code is open source, I have actually tried, and failed because the wrong chipset driver was already installed.
