Noob Questions and Comments - ANSWERED! DistroTube I get a lot of new subscribers every month. As noobs to the channel, they tend to ask the same questions and make the same comments over and over and over again. So here is a response to ten of these noob-type questions and comments

One big thing for total noobs: apart from the simple truth that there's no such thing as too much backup, please make sure you set up your system with a separate /home partition. How to do this depends on your installer or installation process, but the instructions are all over the interwebs.
Thing is, with a seperate /home partition you can change your distro without losing serious data, even most configurations will be safe. If you screw up somehow, like installing a kernel that doesn't support your GPU or whatever and you don't have any other kernels that do work (happened to me once, you can just reinstall and still have all your data and configs.
Most importantly: when using the forums, asking questions and so on, be polite and patient. There are many users who like to help nice people with interesting questions. Loads really. But there are no, repeat no, call centre slaves who get paid for dealing with dumb questions from rude customers.

Thanks for all your awesome videos! I found this one especially enlightening. Just one thing, though. Could you tell me which of your videos is the most interesting one? If just picking one is difficult, a list of ten or fifteen videos you recommend would be awesome. And please include a brief synopsis for each of them.

Hey DT, what do you think about Microsoft's Fluent Design System? It seems Windows is getting more and more elegant and nice to the eye - and perhaps it's already better looking than many linux WM/DE offerings. Thoughts?

Deleted data is not expensive or hard to get back, unless Linux is different from windows. Their are free software to do this. Expensive Data Recovery is for when the data or drive are damaged.

This is exactly what I have done today: Accidentally deleting super important stuff using rm -rf.
Also, you ended the video in a funny way!

Geesh, I was interested in finding out about NOOBs but can't find it for all of the prickishness. I won't be watching another of your videos.

If you didn't know why people like DT, you do now. Most tubers that made a video like this would flip the middle finger for five minutes.
