A Quick Look At Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix 20.04 DistroTube I'm taking a quick look at Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix 20.04. This is not an official flavor of Ubuntu and, being based off a yet-to-be-released Ubuntu 20.04, this is very much beta software. But this young project is already shaping up to be a fine addition to the Ubuntu family. - https://sourceforge.net/projects/ubuntu-cinnamon-remix/

Thanks for doing this Derek. Celluloid is a really great video and audio player because it uses hardware acceleration. You will see less power consumption so less fan noise and longer battery life. Also the audio is much cleaner when listening through a high quality dac.
The Windows 7 and XP layouts change the menu and program panel bar. XP uses long bars, while 7 will be just an icon. 7 will also show the program when moused over in minimized state. You would need to open a few programs and files to see the change. Thanks again for another great video!

Big fan of the content! Keep it up. I have one critique. I noticed at times one of your monitors looks very bright and it washes out your face (especially in this video). You should use a smaller aperture while recording your shows. This will eliminate the washout but it will also make the room a bit darker so maybe using maybe a brighter light source than the monitor would help you balance the lighting a bit. Great job though. You've steered me into Arch and xmonad in a big way so keep coming with the Arch and xmonad stuff!

With all due respect, Cinnamon is developed 90% by Mint devs just like Pantheon is by Elementary ones and Deepin is by Deepin devs. So its ethically wrong to fork it specifically for one distro. I can see if this becomes an official flavour of Ubuntu, then I'm totally fine, just like I am with Manjaro Cinnamon and Fedora Cinnamon. I am also fine if these devs help Mint team develop Cinnamon. But untill then its just living on someone else's hardwork.

I would rather just stick to Mate. Uses less resources and looks basically the same. But, pretty neat. I am waiting for Dell to release an upgrade for my XPS de when 20.04 launches. Celluloid comes standard in Mint 19.3 by the way. It was new to me up until a few months ago.

Linux mint is the most stable distro I've used, it works for me and I'm sticking with it. Looking forward to Mint 20. :) . I wouldn't touch the Ubuntu version, Though I might take the theming from it.

-Gimp is one of the shinning examples of what free and open source sotware can be-
I hope it isn-t. It doesn-t allow you to do simple tasks like selecting multiple layers with ctrl/shit+click.

If Cinnamon can be made to have a top panel and window titlebars that work like Unity and a dock that can be layed out like in unity with drive and trash icons then I'll probably switch.

Who would use that though. Linux mint overall is better, and you can get gnome on cinnamon so there is not much reason to use Ubuntu already but if you want cinnamon desktop just use linux mint

Ubuntu 20.04 Cinnamon version: 4.2.4
Arch Common version: 4.8.4
Linux Mint 19.3 (based on Ubuntu 18.04LTS) version: 4.8.4
Wow usually Linux Mint held updates lol

I've been using Cinnamon for a long time and the only thing I don't like is the menu. MATE has a great menu made also by Mint, called mintMenu.
