Hey Chris, I love your content! I learned a new tip on Kdenlive regarding syncing audio tracks from your video. I always did that manually, so thank you! I do have some suggestions for you. First, I think the camera you use is fine. If you only render the video once, it'll look much sharper. That being said, you may want to consider the Logitech Brio 4K webcam. They're cheap and work well.
Second, you render your source footage twice, and with a video quality of 23 in the render settings. This really causes artifacts and blurred video. I recommend using video quality of 15, especially if you are going to render it twice. I personally do not render source footage twice.I would group your new audio and video just like you did, and edit it directly, adding your intro and outro as usual. Render it once, at 15 video quality and 192kb audio and the video will look really nice!
Last, you can master in 4K and output in 1080p. There's two ways you can do this: setup a 4K 3840x2160 environment in Kdenlive as usual, and edit in 4K, then scale down to 1080p when rendering (in render settings). This will really make the video look sweet, but takes as long as it does to render in 4K.
The second method is to set up your kdenlive environment for 1080P, but use 4K source footage. This method will allow the video to render as fast at 1080P, but not look quite as good as method 1. It will look better than 1080P video rendered in 1080P however.
I hope this helps out, and thank you for keeping the content coming.

Once I used sony vegas, then premiere pro and then I have shotcut the reason is I am in a windows 10 operating system but that's okay... as long I have the skill to edit with any video editing software even I need time to learn the basics then I can get on to stuff and why is that? As long as I have the knowledge that I am familiar with the type of applications whether it is a multimedia, etc, etc, even if the user interface is different I just need to understand the program's own system even it needs time then I can get on with it and finish it and get the job done.
You just need skills and knowledge how to use the tools just like how you use the computer.
Am I right? I'm sure I am.

How are you syncing the audio as I'm having huge problems with it.
I'm trying to get video clips from my Nextbase dashcam synced due to the 1 second overlap every segment after the first one has the last second of the previous clip and instead of using Nextbase's own software to join each clip (which would take forever to do), I'd like to be able to do it in Kenlive.
You did it so quick and without really explaining what you did, I don't even know if I'm doing it right, so could you please try to explain it a bit clearer.
Thanks.

Great topic! We don't need to spend thousands of dollars for a you tube video. And especially time: Who has time to waste on a professional advertisement and who wants to see it? - Great idea with the secondary audio, but maybe too professional? Once again Kdenlive, like many other projects in open source, has gone through so many major improvements in last 2 years. Back in 2016 it was just about worthless. ... Your timing to switch to Linux was perfect!

It's definitely true that if you're just going to vlog the camera quality doesn't really matter 480p+ is good enough. (unless you're recording things with text on them.)
But if the audio is bad people will not want to watch the video.
YouTube has had 4k video for a while now and is still serving 128kbs mp3.
Maybe things will change when AV1 takes over, but it probably won't be much higher bitrate opus.

wow that first cut you did I tried 3 times to find it you must have made it beter than the video nice
Cris have you any tips for removing clangs that people talk over ? I tried DaVinci Resolve on Windows once and it was a pain to fix the garbage audio it had with the eheheheh and metallic clangs
Also have you ever tried audio correction in Kdenlive

imHo, your camera is putting you down. I mean, for the average joe that stumbles into one of your videos. You could have more subs.. Your content so dictates.I myself only care about the message. I would still watch your videos even if they were shot in 320x200 :) If you're already happy with your audience sorry, it was a useless remark.

Hi Chris, can you help me find the Kdenlive download for mac os 10.14. I get to the Kdenlive web page, but cannot find the download link for Mac users. I see that you're using Linux, but I'd appreciate you pointing me the way, or directing me to someone who uses Kdenlive on Mac. Thanks!

can kdenlive do keyframe animation? I'm currently stuck with Sony Vegas Movie Studio 10, which is falling apart (doesn't do nvenc at all and refuses to use my CPU now as well) and I'm planning on switching to linux at some point because my beloved win7 is nearing EoL :c
