in order from best to worst 1.) linux mint. reason: well rounded -out of the box distro- (works well for 9 outta 10 users with out any changes downloads or tweaking and ships with a good well rounded de 2.) manjaro kde. reason: arch with a gui installer and bc kde nuff said 3.) kde neon. reason: kde desktop and kde connect nuff said. 4.) base arch linux. reason: learning and computer programing 5.) suicide linux. reason: learning (even if it is a pain in the ass)

I'm new to linux... but have tried installing tons of linux distros (linux mint, linux lite, puppy linux, ubuntu, lubuntu, ubuntu mate, feren, deepin, garuda, etc and even android and chrome OS) just to find one that works for me. Since I'm new, I look of ease of use (so a simple graphical user interface). So here's my list:
1. deepin
2. feren
3. linux mint

My HP Laptop 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD and 1 TB HDD doesn't run any Arch based system.
The installation either fails or stops during the installation procedure.
I tried Pop!_OS and it installed in 5 minutes.
The ones I tried are
1) Mainstream arch
2) Arco qtile
3) endeavour
4) garuda i3
5) manjaro i3
Anyone has heard about this issue?

Was using Linux lite xfce for a year or so and was having a few funky issues with bash scripting (due to hardware compatability iirc), I moved to manjaro after failing to connect to WiFi in arch installer (definitely just being dumb tbh, I may try again with a fresh mind at some point) and it's been great, manjaro xfce is comfortable enough for now

Immediately got my like for mentioning Elive. Such a nice OS - enlightenment tweaked to perfection, small footprint, blazingly fast. Such a shame it relies on one person's works and does not progress fast which then limits the releases to -once in a lifetime.

I am just getting acquainted to linux through Raspberry pi, but I am now quite interested. I think I will get an old laptop or desktop for a full system. So your opinions, and explanations are quite helpful.

This is great. I used to be a serious distro-hopper, but had mostly stopped because ... well, I thought the interesting stuff had all kinda settled down. Glad to see I was wrong. :)

These sound like great distro's. I want to be a student of Linux and maybe move to a SysAdmin job in a year/18 months from now. Which one is good to start with?

I'm gonna try AntiX. I have an old machine that cannot take more than 1GB of ram (and I already hit this super-high limit...) so every MB matters. Thanks.

Posting videos to document things isn't awesome, that's the definition of bloat. Videos are great, but not for everything, and posting a video a day is absurd.
