We'll run through how to make the search box return exact matches and more advanced scenarios like partial match search, multiple column match and highlighting the search term using conditional formatting in the results. This is a fully fledged search box. I have a table in my excel sheet, now I want to create a search box filter. When I type a word, the table should show all the rows with that word.
This way I can work on the filtered row, editing the cell.
What I am trying is, eliminating the need of filtering data by clicking the respective header row cell.
I want to have a search box in my excel sheet that will cover all the heading cell.
Instead of filtering respective header row, i will just write in the search box, and it will show all the data in the table.

Is there a way to do this so that if the array table has a hyperlink, the search result will also include the hyperlink? Say I have a large table of topics and each is hyperlinked to a guide online (whether by =HYPERLINK or right click insert hyperlink). I use the =Filter formula so it returns only topics that match what I type in the search box, however currently it's not including the hyperlink in the result, only the text.
Is there a way to do this?

Great tutorial! I used this to create a searchable phone directory. However when I go to share it with everyone in my onedrive I get an error (This workbook cannot be shared because it contains Excel tables or XML maps: To share this workbook, convert the tables to ranges an remove the XML maps). Is this able to be shared?

Hey Kevin this is exactly what I was looking for the project I am working on. I am trying to follow along using your sample but it doesn't seem to work. I downloaded it and am using it with excel 2016. Not sure if that's the issue or not.
But the search box doesn't yield any results

Thank you Kevin for this amazing tutorial. I implemented a search box using this method but my employees keep touch the search box and moving it. Is there a way to lock the search box for a specific cell so that people dont accidentally move the search box around. Pls and Thank you.

Hi Kevin,
I've got a problem, I was wondering if you could help me.
I can't find -Filter- Function on my MS Excel 2016.
Do i have to add this Function myself? Is there any Add Ins or something like that.
I would appreciate your help. Thanks

Your tutorial is great. But i have a question, how can i combine search with multiple keyword. Ex : I have description is red, and sub categories is pen. I want to use keyword -red pen- to find them in my database. Thanks

Every time that I add a search box, I can't do anything. I can't even close the excel sheet, I have to go to command prompt and force a shutdown. I have a feeling that it has something to do with the properties.
