This is useless. The system Recycle Bin Icon opens a very specific menu on right-click. What you're doing here is simply creating a shortcut .lnk file.
You can call it manually -recycle bin- and stick the proper icon onto it, it won't change the obvious fact that this is a common file shortcut
Click right on your fake icon and you'll get a menu -open with / copy / print/ delete, etc-
Delete your icon and... Oh! it goes away into the recycle bin. Now that's funny. Good luck trying to delete the REAL recycle bin icon.
There's no -trick- in there. Title of this video should definitely be changed to something less misleading.

Hi! Thanks for this brilliant solution to a long-term problem: easy disposal of items with having to NAVIGATE to anywhere but the taskbar!
One small problem I had: when I went to assign a Recycle Bin icon to my new shortcut, there was no such icon showing in the -Change icon- dialogue box. Lots of other stuff, but nothing resembling a garbage/trash can. How/where can I fine/restore one?
Thanks for any suggestions.

I can get as far as creating the shortcut but when I go to Properties>Change Icon....there is no -Recycle Bin- icon in that folder. I have the original Recycle Bin on my desktop and that one has the icon but I can't assign an icon to the recycle bin folder I just made following the instructions. Any ideas?

Sadly, that's just a shortcut. I think most folks want functionality on the taskbar. To be able to see if it's full and right-click empty it directly from it's icon on the taskbar. This tutorial isn't it.

I followed the directions and the recycle bin still doesn't appear. When I hit the apply button it stays gray. Could that be the reason? Thanks.
