Microsoft Loop Explained: this will change how you work - Kevin Stratvert In this overview video, learn what Microsoft Loop is, how it'll change work, how you can test it now, how it compares to competition like Notion, and what's coming up next. Microsoft Loop is a new app that combines a powerful and flexible canvas with portable components that stay in sync and move freely across Microsoft 365 apps. - Additional resources - All the Microsoft 365 Apps Explained: https://youtu.be/LmKUxgSIADU

So it's a separate app to create synchronised ecosystem wide dynamic datasets ... Only you've been able to do that in Google Workspace for 3 years now.
I guess that makes this Microsoft's inelegant response. Honestly, just like many people either don't know Google Workspace can do this, or don't care (either way few use it) I really don't think many people will use loop either. I really don't think this is going to change the way anyone works.
For starters it's yet another application, and needlessly so. This could have just been added features in the existing collaboration system without the need for a dedicated app.
But also, where are you realistically going to use this? If you want to collaborate on a project, chances are you don't want to break it up by table, paragraph or list.
What problem that you have is this actually solving? For the vast majority of people the answer will be none, and that's the point. It's just another overhyped feature built out into it's own program with little real world value.

Our company would love to use Teams and Loop but we can't find anyway to automate the backup of Teams Chats outside of the Microsoft Environment. In 10 years time we will still need to have a record of why design decisions were made and by who and all the supporting evidence that due diligence was followed. After that period of time we may need to track down the relevant information among 1000's, possibly 10 000's of chats and we can't guarantee that our company will still be using Microsoft Teams after all that time. New applications are appearing all the time and we may not even be using Microsoft applications. Currently all our emails are archived and even if we left the Microsoft environment we can access the data. Until Microsoft provide someway for us to provide us with that facility we can't use Teams to its full extent.

without content responsibillity team work gets chaos. I consider contemporary work on docs a nightmare. Having self-updateable content components is great for multi-doc elaborations. But in most cases you and your team want to have components static. reason for that is you want to re-evaluate critical content in its -evoloution-. My opinion on loop: it takes away control in team work and contributes to nauseating -microsoft is thinking for you--black boxes....

I am a HUGE motion fan, so I was so excited to hear about this. Unfortunately, the product is nowhere near as convenient, feature-rich, or customizable as Notion is. Also, only being able to use within Teams makes very little sense. in it's current state, loop serves an extremely narrow purpose that things like Lists, OneDrive and Excel have already solved in the Microsoft ecosystem. I was excited to hear about this, but for now it's a no from me.

Sound like a good theory/idea, however, I'm sure micro-shaft will try to charge out the rear for it in addition to other software. Similar to office, in office 2003 you can install on and as many pcs as you need with your license key/code, the newer ones are advertised as 1pc, 3pc in addition, 1year.... why?!? I bought it, I want to be able to use it for as long as I own it on as many pcs as I own.
Just my $0.02

This will be heavily used by advanced technical teams and shunned by normal users because it's just too much linking for normal people's brains. It'll limp along for 4 years and then be cut because of very little adoption - Classic M$ Stuff. Those previously mentioned advanced technical teams will just get boned for trying something new that the masses won't adopt.

Eh... I don't know.
Enterprise environments rely on static, unchanging documents that can be encrypted and tightly controlled and, most importantly, recorded. The process of simply saving down a doc is just way more versatile. Loop looks pretty, sure, but there's nothing it really -does- that either wasn't asked for, or is covered by another microsoft thing.

Our data and technology expert in our organization has been sharing your videos with us for over two years. I am sorry that I-m just seriously watching them. You have explained Microsoft 365 so wonderfully, and I love your examples that you use with your Kevin cookie company. It makes it so realistic and doable. Thank you for these great instructional videos.

This is Microsoft trying too hard.
All we want is Ms word, Excel and ppt to collaborate with smooth fluidity. Microsoft has what it takes to kick Googles a$$ but theyre just not doing it !!....and confusingly enough Google could easily kick Microsoft's a$$ if only they made feature rich standalone Google docs / sheets / slides application

Cool! Apple OpenDoc and Google Wave! I have every confidence that Microsoft has the chops to make these innovations work where those slovenly operations failed.
Prepare for slow. Prepare for low availability. Prepare for piss poor cross-compatability. The tipoff? -This will change everything!!-
It always does Clippy.
