How To Make A Digital Bugout Bag - The Hated One International Red Cross recommends that all persons have an emergency survival kit with multiday supplies of the most essential items. This is in case of any natural or man-made crisis resulting in a need for evacuation or a major disruption of day-to-day services. Part of this emergency kit is what I would call a digital bug out bag - copies of personal documents - cell phone with chargers or extra batteries - family and emergency contact information Many if not all of these copies should be physical. But paper documents can easily get destroyed by floods, fire or collapse. They can be lost or stolen and in case of theft, your paper documents are not encrypted and they could be abused for fraud; which is the last thing you want to think about in a crisis. Having a secure digital backup gives you an additional fail safe if all else is lost. Hopefully you will never be in a situation where you need this. But it-s always better to be prepared because this can save you the precious seconds that might be decisive in an emergency situation. So in this short tutorial, I will guide you through the process of creating an encrypted digital backup on a microSD card, how to securely copy and store your files and how to protect it from theft, loss and physical elements. I will also extend this tutorial to include emergency items and apps that could help you better navigate through a crisis situation. This won-t take long so let-s begin. I chose a microSD card for this purpose because it is the most versatile storage medium for a digital bug out bag. Technically, a USB flash drive will be the most widely accepted standard among any modern computer, laptop or even mobile devices

If you do this you need multiple copies and you need to replace them constantly.
Flash memory isn't very resilient, so if you have this sitting in a safe for a few years there's no guarantee the data will still be accessible when you need it.
You'd be better off keeping an encrypted copy on some sort of cloud solution plus another copy on optical media such as an M-Disc.
Optical media is much more resilient compared to flash memory such as USB and SD card.

In a emergency situation Windows would not work. It's an operating you don't own or control and is designed to be controlled by corporation Microsoft.
It would be a good idea to use a freedom respecting and open source Linux distro, that also encrypt do full disk encryption by default. And has no corporation backing.

Ok, I've finally seen the video. Fantastic job as usual! And great pieces of humor! XD
Also, this should stay monetized, since it's a rather family friendly and non-sensitivs topic.

If you use a micro SD card you also need to have an adapter on hand, since you don't know what your options might be for hardware compatibility.

8: 00 in the case of crumbling infrastructure, mobile networks may die. 2FA would too if you don't use a physical offline token generator
