There are quite a few gamers that play games like Skyrim and Witcher and these gamers would most likely rather have better graphics then better framerates. It's mostly gamers who play fast paced multiplayer games that go for the higher framerate count and less for the graphics. I believe ray tracing will be the most important evolution in graphics since we went from 2d to 3d back in the days, especially for gamers who like moody graphics in story-based games. But even multiplayer gamers should be entertained by the ability for enhanced gameplay from seeing interactions in the scene from things happening outside of their field of view in the reflective surfaces around them. Let the graphics gamers pay for this round and in a year or two when the technology is more evolved in later iterations of hardware the framerates will be great for awesome multiplayer experiences as well. I understand the pricing is a bit harsh for this iteration of hardware, but just don't buy it and wait for the next iteration and there will be something good with a more reasonable pricing for action gamers and it will be a win win situation for everyone.

Lol, AMD is just slipping even further behind. I went out on a limb and pre-ordered a 2080ti.
1) because I really don-t care if it-s even a small or marginal increase over Pascal, i-m more interested in the tech.
2) I believe ray tracing is the next step in gaming, imagine being able to see the reflection of another player in a car window in a shooter. Game changer for sure.
3) Nvidia has never really gone backwards in terms of performance. For them to launch a product that will perform worse than pascal would hurt the company so bad, I just don-t see them pulling a stunt like that.
4) They still have a full line-up, which now contains ray tracing. Don-t like the prices of the new tech, stick with Pascal. They-re completely obtainable, and still plenty powerful enough to keep you playing. You honestly don-t need a ray tracing card to play in 1080p at 240 hz. Come on man. Who-s gonna do that anyway?

it's easy to read the slide, you cut average of 10% of HDR and then you cut 20% for 4K bandwidth, and you will end up with a card barely about 20% faster in 1080p maybe a bit more in 1440p and i am being generous here, DSSL isn't even worth mentioning until you know what anti aliasing they used on the 1080 and is DSSL quality is better or even equal to current AA tech.
this is a really deceitful slide.
Ra tracing is a great tech, and a great addition, but you dont build a new generation on it as the lone selling point, then mark it up to oblivion then tell ppl you used to play at 1080-120hz, now enjoy ray tracing at 1080p-30fps.

4k graph shows frame rates. but i bet they definitely arnt the low frame frates. fast hardware is important. . but optimisation of the graphic engines is where its more important. the new doom/Wolfenstien [example]proves this. liquid smooth.
people always go on about high frame rates. most only need a steady 60fps. [default monitor refresh rate] so the important figure is your low fps is improved to meet this.
been there before so many times with amazing things hyped/promised. and often never realised.
so the proof is in the pudding

FACT: RTX 2080 Offers 50 Percent Performance Boost Over GTX 1080!
Lying and Crying Rabid AMD Advocate AMDogs are flinging RTX FUD because they're GeForce Green with envy that NVIDIA RTX Turing delivers Real Time Ray Tracing Effects that makes Games look BETTER than EVER and enables reflective tactics giving GeForce RTX Gamers a HUGE ADVANTAGE.

History repeats itself, we can remember the same leap in quality when nvidia introduced GeForce FX series. Technically the card was waay ahead of that time and fps in contemporary games was decent. It had only one problem - performance of new features. The same story happening now with RTX series)

-14: 15 do i want 400 fps? No I want 60 fps at 4k which my titan x pascal cant do. If you are suggesting to us that I would like to go back to 1080p 40ish fps for some fancy shadows, then i have news for you, and nvidia.

Let-s not get ahead of ourselves. Let-s wait for actual benchmarks. Nvidia could make these number look better than they actually are. If you believe it why didn-t they show it in the press. Let-s wait and see.

With a price that high, I'll buy an older generation used card when the market is even more flooded with gamers and miners trying to offload their old gear. My AMD 280x still gives me 200 to 300 FPS in CSGO at 1080p.
