IMO, for GTX to be -Back- there needs to be a 1670, 1680, and 1680 ti. Just to fill the performance holes of the upper end without having toe pay for tensor or RT cores. But, also IMO that doesn't seem like something that will happen just given the pricing difference between the 1660 ti and the 2060. Its slower than the 2060, which I say is strong intent, and it costs less. But, by setting the performance and pricing them this way, they make it seem like its just the lower performance that makes it cheaper, and the Tensor or RT cores didn't really cost a thing.
As such, I think GTX 16xx cards in the higher performance tiers will by priced based solely on their performance rather than an impression that the RT and Tensor Cores cost anything, and they, like the 1660ti IMO, just won't be worth it. Without there being something in he GTX line thats faster than a 2060, these are just merely lower tiers of RTX cards with stuff gutted from it that really don't cost what they really should have with the stuff gutted from it. They could have called this a GTX 2050 because thats what it is.

And on Ryzen, I dont see them coming out at Adored prices either, because as stated it would be way too hard for them to sell something like 3300g for just $100. There will still be a minor price drop over what Zen 2 is, definitely less than Zen 1, core for core, but not to any extreme. Like I don't see them selling the best 16 core of the exact same as they sold 8 cores back in gen 1. At best I think we will see the best 8 core costing slightly less, if not the same, as 2700x MSRP, like right around $300 or $310, meaning the 16 core will start at in the $600's, with that special 50th anniversary edition being closer to or in the $700. Thats a more realistic expectation in my eyes.
And if they do, they will still sell them because we done seent the AMD 8 core matching the 9900k with less power. They will still win at $300 vs $500. $230 seems too cheap to me and even tho the consumer will definitely benefit from that (for a while, they would be shooting themselves in the foot doing so

USB 4. 0 is supposed to incorporate Thunderbolt 3, which is currently proprietary Intel tech, but will be made an open standard for inclusion into USB 4. 0. That's how I understood a couple of articles on the topic.
That said, USB 4. 0 speed could be anywhere between 5Gbps (Gen 1) to 10Gbps (Gen 2) to 40Gbps (Thunderbolt 3. If you attach older USB 2. 0 or 1. 0 devices to it, the older speeds will take effect (i. e. an old USB 2. 0 external hard drive will not become magically faster when connected to a USB 4. 0 laptop port.

Okay. So listening to the discussion about the upcoming USB 4 I find myself concluding that it is a good time to purchase a new X470 motherboard and (for now) a heavily discounted Ryzen 7 1700 CPU (which I can upgrade if and when it is appropriate to do so) to carry me through to the time when the next variation of USB gets its shit together and joins DDR5, PCIe 4 and SATA4 on whatever generation of mainstream, non-tweaky motherboards that winds up being. So, maybe. 2 years from now?

for me its strange when i hear about certain threads being used (6 cores or all 12 threads or whatever. I run 1080ti sli on surround (and have been since launch) on the 8700k at over 4k rez (4320x2560) and I consistently see good use of the 12 threads on games. GPU 1 and GPU 2 usage varies on games and sli compatibility. My smaller 2400 i5 box with radeon rx 460 sees good cpu use too on ultrawide 1440p.

I recommend going and doing a head to head comparison on 1440p of the 1660ti vs the 349$ rtx 2060 card because its a pretty noticable difference. I over clocked my 2060 close to 2070 performance and it smokes the 1660ti. Buy the 2060 if your going 1440p and need a new nvidia card, best value overall on team green.

i got a vega 64 for $400 and blows away a 2060. i'd just wait for vega 64 to come back into stock, or wait for vega 56 for $270. and no, high core count is great for IT. we can have multiple vboxes open and assign multiple cores to each vbox and be able to run numerous vboxes at the same time.

I've been wanting to switch to Threadripper for a while now (from a 4790k, but I don't want to upgrade to worse single thread performance. If gen three boasts higher clocks and better single thread performance, then I think a lot of people will take notice.

Im really in need for some advice. Getting a 1660 ti with a i7 3770 non k 16gb 1333mhz. Do u guys think there will be any bottleneck in 1080p 144hz? Playing a kind of games but mostly fps. Thanks in advance!
