I am a -PC master race- person, so I do understand where the comparison comes from, but I firmly believe that 3080, or any Nvidia 30xx card's performance has anything to do with the price drop as consoles are not really part of the gaming option for countries aside the US. (The further the country is from the US, PC components and laptops tend to become less readily available and with heavily inflation. The -average- PC on Steam is considered mid to low tier in the US, while it is mid to high tier out of the US, as that is the system spec they can afford with similar price)
Alaina makes a great point about the Xbox -- I see the subscription model and game pass as a last minute desperate marketing decision as their game/console presentation was weak compared to the PS5. Halo, the actual halo product for the Xbox, received quite a bit of criticism and was pushed back when it was the sole reason for many to be even interested in the new Xbox. They further decided on aggressive pricing as an attempt to remain relevant until Halo launches, where they can go back to their initial (predatory) subscription models to make up for their initial loss. It's unfortunate for Sony taking a loss just because Microsoft keeps on sucking but brute forces itself with its near-infinite funding.
Adam also makes a great point. In other countries, internet access is not readily available to many for varying reasons. Requiring continuous service to play games defeats the concept of console gaming and is a huge detriment. At this point, I feel that Xbox continues to lag behind the PS because they only look at consumers in the US and other -first world tech--countries. The two versions of PS show that they have understanding, showing that they understand that the China and India are significant -- Being able to keep and share games with a physical copy is paramount when they don't know what their situation may be the next day.
The higher clocks on the Xbox may also be a marketing gimmick. I am not doubting the specs, but I do doubt that it is better than the level of optimization the PS should have (or Mark Cerny and AMD will have a lot of explaining to do to investors. Additionally, will it make the Xbox an annoying loud system? Regardless, what matters more than clock speed is optimization by game developers. On a slight tangent, PS games ported to PC, especially by Japanese developers, always have been less optimized and sometimes need quite a bit of work form the community. Their lack of optimization actually giving gamers reason to play games on the PS instead of PC when theoretically PC should always be better, generally the case with Xbox. -Xbox sales won't grow until they realize that they compete with themselves and provide something that is not just a small form factor PC. which won't happen since that they reason why the entered the console space anyway.

Question for you guys, Could we have a build off using the Corsair Hydro X line, Zen3 + 3000series cards
Gordon - balls to the wall power machine focus
Adam - Workstation focus
Brad - Gaming focus
Alaina - Budget
OH boy, I am glad I talked to Corsair to build a new Hydro X build although it seems like its going to be a pain to take apart the founders edition. Going to update to Zen 3 5800X? leaks for gaming.
I am using the Thermaltake P3 with a Corsair AX860Plat, XD3Pump, 420mmRad 3x140mm QL fans, XC7 CPU block, Went Overkill with RAM Corsair Dominator Plat 3600mhz 32GB(4x8GB) I am going soft tubing(frankly for ease of maintenance My threadripper workstation is an EK Loop with Pyrex hard tubing in a Lian Li Dynamic XL ROG.
2x 8pin is 300watts(150watts per 8pin) you get 75 watts from the Edge Connector. So going 3x 8 pin is kind of weird. when a 6pin could easily handle it.

Brad, normally like your reviews but I wish you would not be like the others. I feel like having review samples seeded to you kind of limit your full ability to be fully honest with the audience.
Maybe nvidia deserves its 3080 praises. This GPU could have been a lot better had Nvidia didn-t cheap out and gotten a sweetheart deal from Samsung on its 8nm process. TSMC 7nm is a hell of a lot better. Heat and power draw is its flaws and all these special cooler and thick heatsink just shows you how much Nvidia is trying to hide its flaws. I suppose at the end of the day the fastest GPU drawing a lot more power and generating more heat is ok. because it-s faster than 2080 Ti.

Since I wasn't able to purchase a 3080, I think it might be a blessing in disguise. Now I'll be able to see all the reviews of the partner cards and figure out which of all of them is the best performance to value. I suppose I might end up waiting til more info comes along for rdna 2 from amd as well. I think nvidia might be shooting themselves in the foot by not having enough stock, forces people like me into making a more educated decision on gpu purchases by forcing me to be patient

Thing is, PlayStation vs Xbox is not a zero sum game. Whoever wins a generation in console sales doesn't mean the other companies aren't legit, profitable businesses. In & Out doesn't close down just because McDonalds is bigger. PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo all appear to have healthy businesses. That means they are all successful. What's interesting is that when the Wii won a generation in sales, people had a -Yeah, but. - attitude about it and still made it about PS vs XB. Fanboys.

Is the death of blower style cards really that big a deal for SFF PCs? It seems like people who are willing to pay the premium for the smaller footprint are also willing to shell out for liquid cooling solutions, or mod the card to remove the shroud and fan(s) so they can have 120mm fans blowing directly onto the heatsink for a cheaper solution.

I'm glad that Intel Xe is good, as it means RDNA2 is coming to integrate-graphics realm soon.
PS. most browsers nowadays use separate process for each tab. I think having many core would benefit the browser use-case. Haven't done the benchmark though.

These Xe graphics are just barely able to compete against current AMD integrated graphics which still are only using Vega. The true comparison will be against RNDA graphics coming early next year.

It's quite funny how all of the sudden Intel left real world benchmarks.
