-PCWorld The console mid gen cycle update was because 4K TVs were already out in circulation. All launch base systems were designed for 1080p TVs and with 4K content on the rise they were in a race to support the new format. It-s hard to say if both console makers will release another mid gen update unless the home TV market gets a new refresh for example to 8K. At least they pushed for a faster SSD and a new HDMI standard. The trouble it-s way too expensive to reap in any of the benefits. They probably should have waited. I doubt consumers will see anything fresh coming this year in terms of new games. Maybe Sony will be 1st in showcasing the advantages.

I just snagged another $300 5. 2GHz 9900K with a z390 Aorus Master motherboard for $150 to go with it. Got 32GB's of the 4000CL17 Samsung B-die for $160. I'd call that a steal. Especially when i walked out with a 55in LG C9 4K120 OLED with G-SYNC for $800 and another $700 2080ti FTW3 Ultra as a place holder until B-navi shows up. Call it another good day. I'll probably go back and clear out the rest of the 9900K stock. They all at least run 5. 2GHz with 1. 250v-1. 30v.

Price went up a little big deal, Performance also went up. R&D is not free, If a little more $ for more performance is to much to handle then DO NOT UPGRADE, You can still drive a pinto for cheaper. The R9-5950X is listed at $ 1. 189. 99 Here at my local computer shop in Canada, ( waiting ) for stock. My R9-3950X was $ 1. 079. 99 and worth every penny.

The big difference between intel then and AMD now is that AMD still needs to gain the market share.
And AMD knows that intel is still rolling in mountains of money and so they could pull a rabbit out of a hat at any moment.
I really don't see a reason for AMD to slow down, or keep prices high, even if they are on top at the moment.

Comment on the core count. I always want at least as many cores as exist on consoles, but prefer more (because I don't expect Windows to be as efficient / lite as a console OS. I expect the 5900X to age better than 5700X and 5600X. Other than lower boost frequencies I doubt it'll matter much in gaming with most current games.

Sorry no way was console cycle longer the ps4 and the slim fin but you give people higher resolution and FPS then I'm sorry that's a big console change one that was a full console upgrade. That was 3years so I feel Sony has killed the cycle console rate and that's why I'll be buying a ps5 pro in 2ish years time.

Gordon is a shill, if you would have bought AMD the whole time you only have to throw in a new cpu when you feel like it. Not invest in a whole new platform. PC world should have known this day was coming I did lol. Over %100 IPC lift from my 2700X to a 3800X in some categories.

I was thinking about heading to the PC store to check out the launch of the Ryzen 5xxx series in Japan in about 11 hours. If I do, I can you let you guys know if there are lines.

The new AMD chips are priced very fairly. Just look at the Ryzen 1800X price at launch. It was actually more expensive. Consumers have nothing to complain about consider what you get.
