Tally Ho Tech has a video of the Mac M1 Max vs a 100Watt 3080 in Shadow of the Tomb Raider using Rosetta 2 and it's close, but the Mac wins.
They tested using the full power 3080 and it obviously won. Then he unplugged it.
The full speed 3080 performance tanked and the Mac had the exact same performance on battery that it had plugged in.
It scores very similar to a Ryzen 5800H in Cinebench while using the power of a U series.
By the way they are using last year's Firestorm and Icestorm cores as well as the prior GPU cores.
They are Sandbagging. The A15 focused on power efficiency, those cores will allow more cores in the M2 series.
You can find reasons to hate on Apple, mostly there business practices, right to repair and cost of upgrades. ($2000 for the base 6+2 model with 14GPU cores and $2700 for the 8+2 with 32GPU cores. Ram and storage are sickeningly expensive to upgrade)

What i believe it comes down to is, what are you doing with your pc, personally i use both pc & mac, whatever situation or option i need to use it for that's the direction i go, so we all know rhetoric & most of the time marketing, clever marketing sells a product but one thing is for sure is if it is not a good product it will not last, so i try to stay away from choosing 1 side, because both sides have something unique & cool to offer, i was primarily a Windows user for 15 yrs then switched to a mac but then i realized why not use both to your advantage depending on work flow, so let's stop this divisive rhetoric, whatever suits you just use it, it would be cool if Microsoft & Apple could both work on a cool product together but i know that would never happen because this is the world we live in, nice show by the way.

I switched from Android to Apple. Bought an iPad Pro a month ago, iPhone 13 Pro two weeks ago and am now waiting for my Apple Watch and MacBook Pro to be delivered next month. People do switch. I just got bored of Android phones (been using them since it came out) and my Surface tablet. I still have my gaming PC running 5950X/3090 that I dual boot with Ubuntu as I develop software but I wanted a MacBook so that I can chill on my sofa while working.
I might eventually -go back- but as of now I'm enjoying having something new in my life and actually iOS isn't as bad as I thought it would be. It just takes some getting used to but that was expected it being a new ecosystem (which by the way overall is far better than Android has ever been.

I like all the individual people on this show but it is a poorly produced mess. The start of the shoe takes forever, doesn-t clearly layout what the subjects to be covered. Stop selling trinkets first up. Nobody seems to be the main host resulting in each person talking over each other while not listening to what each other is saying. To often the people on this show seem ill prepared and are just making stuff up on the fly. Seriously, I know it-s supped to have an amateur style but I think the panel overall projects inflated egos. I recommend that they themselves watch the show back together in the same room. I tried this show a few times but sorry not again.

Please cover the main issues more cogently, it wastes everyone's time to ramble in circles and have opinions repeated over and over without any data or research to back it.
MLiD's report makes more sense because it's about meeting growth targets and stock management, avoiding falling prices before new models MSRPs are announced.
On MLiD's report: Where are the RTX 3080s? Why were 3060s available around 6600xt launch and then vanish? AMD just don't have the wafer starts to supply the CPU & GPU market even with lower die area low end GPUs.

For people in the entertainment industry like illustrators and such Apple might be the way but for engineering well nobody will touch a mac. Software comes first then you get the hw that runs on it and no proper pro engineering software runs on anything than x86 and for the most case win.
The Narrative that Gordon talks about is the same in regards to Zen3 vs Intel both 10 and 11gen. People dont understand that intel still is there perf wise and even more so when being tweaked, especially when being tweaked.

Very few switch from Windows to Mac and vice versa. The more likely switch (but still a minority) is from Windows to Linux.
However, if the Mac M1 chips outpaces its PC counterparts to the point of being faster at everything, at the same price point, I will consider switching.
Side story: I once switched from Canon film SLR to Nikon digital SLR, because at that time Nikon had the better pricing. I loved both brands.

Intel Alderlake and the Z690 chipset will support both DDR4 and DDR5. But not at the same time. As an example Asus ROG STRIX Z690-A GAMING WIFI will come in both DDR4 and DDR5 versions. Also it could be important to mention that Intel did their benchmarks before Microsoft come out with Windows 11 AMD optimization patch. How much this will impact things one way or another I do not know

While I get your gripes about -Windows- vs -Mac- teams. as someone who owns multiple windows and macs (and ordered the new M1 MAX mbp. you guys kept going on and on griping about the -team wars-, i had to turn you off! Pretty ironic. People can have reasonable conversations about this without turning it into a battle--you guys failed to do so: -/

Gordon, America is a Continent and football is played with foot and ball! Brazil lost to Germany in the world cup 2014 Brasil 7-1 Germany. Why you yankees insists in call football as soccer and your yankee rugby as football? Everybody with eyes can see the guy smashing each other throwing with the hand a thing that looks like an egg.
