When it comes to forced microsoft accounts - there are places other than US. I myself sometimes take a trip on an international ferry that has no/horrible wifi and and I use my laptop then. If I can't sign in. What then? What about planes with no wifi? What about mountain cabins and other remote places?
As for -everyone else is doing it- - they are offering a compelling service that requires those accounts. If Microsoft offered good services that make use of those accounts - great. Forcing people -just because we can- is a crappy reason. I see no need for a microsoft account for me as they offer nothing good. The only reason I use it is to play Horizon 5 with friends and even then the experience is much worse than steam - all of my PCs still use local accounts. As for bitlocker keys - again, not everyone uses that.

the SSD stuff is concerning.
also would point out, how the industry screws us.
you would think, that we would get cheap NVMI SSD's by now. but we dont.
yes pcie 4. 0 drive prices went somewhat down, but instead of making the pcie 3. 0 drives cheap. they just stopped making them.
and dont get me started on the 2. 5 Sata SSD's. looking at the speeds, they should cost almost nothing. like a CRUCIAL 2TB MX500 for CORSAIR 500GB MP600, cuz its 1/4 write and 1/7th read speeds. but thats not the case. it costs like a very fast Gen4 1Tb drive. wich is absurd.

Both my siblings and my parents live in a rural area with no internet access. The use their phones for a lot, but they still have PCs for offline use. My brother just received his Starlink supplies today, so things might start changing around there. (I have gigabit internet, but I'm not ignorant to the massive amount of Americans who don't have good options for internet access)

SSD's should not go up in price across the board. If they do, then the contamination was a scam. There is no reason to inflate ssd prices because one manufacturer had a problem. Great business model by Western Digital passing it's loss on to the consumer. Just don't buy WD ssd's. Matter of fact, just don't buy anything from Western Digital. Stick with Samsung.

I moved to Canada (well, Linux) 12 years ago. I still have a Windows 10 laptop that I update once a month, but that's generally the only time I boot it up. The only gaming I do is what's available on my Linux Mint machine. I have no intention of ever having a Microsoft account.

This is exciting to me because of the possibilities with future iterations of the Surface Pro, I just hope Microsoft considers the Ryzen chips for the SP9 and relatives when they release later this year or next.

I wonder why they went with the G14 with 4900HS instead of the one with 5900HS which was the latest one, that should have been a better choice for comparison of the scores.
