PCWorld - I just came to say, Gordon is very wrong about VR, and Adam is right here.
Literally the only reason I felt a need at all to upgrade from my old i7-3970X & GTX 1080 system to my new i9-13900K & RTX4090 system = VR.
I could already play everything I had on my ultrawide with acceptable performance. The fantastic experiences I can have in VR are my primary motivation for the future of entertainment being interesting and not being stagnant. End of story.
Gordon, here are just a few examples of titles that keep pulling me back. Of course we need more great content, and I am eagerly waiting for a new HMD from Valve (I might get the Somnium VR1 or Bigscreen Beyond if Valve takes too long).

I could keep going, but you get my freakin' point. lol
I honestly hate the negativity some people have toward the growing/improving medium, because there is a very real possibility your words reaching ignorant people can negatively affect the admittedly slow growth that I want to see speed up.
But what do I know? I loved Nvidia 3D Vision 2 and hated the negativity some had toward that too - we see what happened to it - most didn't even know it freakin' existed, but hey, you love the glasses-free version that I was eagerly waiting for - that we could definitely have had years ago if people didn't crap on 3D Vision the way you're crapping on VR right now!

I was going to type in the chat, but I was drifting in and out of consciousness due to all that apple talk. I even had a dream that I left a comment, but some massive failure happened with copy and paste (on my phone since i was still in bed). On a serious note. I am trying to buy a laptop for live streaming 3 video cameras between now and the first week of August. And I don't seem to know anything about laptop technology, because all I hear about is Apple nonsense, SFF and steam decks.

I see gaming laptops as a contradiction in terms. For me laptops is mostly an advanced typewriter. For any heavy lifting I would use a desktop. For a laptop I look for battery life and a pleasant screen. Keyboard layout, and etc. A gaming laptop running at full steam, will at the best have a battery life in the range 50 to 60 minutes. While being very noisy.

I can explain why different manufacturers arriive at a technology innovation at the same time. It's because the real innovation is coming from upstream hardware vendors. So when they make an innovation all the companies downstream take note and work it into their products.

Any sort-of Raptor Lake refresh better be 100% compatible with existing Z790 boards. Intel & their partners have always been _terrible_ about socket/platform support.
