I already bought R9 370. My work laptop died a week ago, so I needed replacement asap.
what I can tell you from my hunting for replacement. Ryzen ones tend to do much better on power saving profile.
intel like to ramp its power, with very small stuff, and goes instantly to idle. It annoys me, because it ramps fans for 5-10 seconds, every time you load a link in browser. Keep in mind that my 155h experience was only in shop, but it seemeed to do same thing as my older intels.
asus zenbook with r9 370 sits right now on 42'C (with 27'C ambient) with yt playing, which is mighty impressive. I keep the speedfan open, and it just does not go above 75, no matter what I do)

That's a nice AMD 300 laptop although, I think it's a bit pricy for an APU chipset. I knew the AMD 300 would stomp Snapdragon X Elite in almost everything. Where the Snapdragon did win in was mostly minuscule and unimportant. It's laughable and distasteful that the Snapdragon laptops are trying to sell at that price. Whoever's idea to rip off customers for setting the price that high for that low performing Snapdragon garbage deserves a very firm, fingers very stiff, slap in the face. High props to AMD 300, although I really hope they can have some cheaper devices soon. I hope Intel's next CPUs will be a bit better though.

AI/NPU chips need a killer app. Their sole benefit is POWER EFFICIENCY as your normal, modern GPU can do the same tasks. So these AI/NPU designs really need a software task that is frequently used. Microsoft's Recall was supposed to be a main use case but that's on hold for obvious reasons. The BATTERY life tests are interesting, but we'll have to see how this shakes out for most users. I DO think this will just become the new normal and that many applications will be optimized to use this.

Those Blender and Handbrake results absolutely make no sense. How the flying F is the new 12 (read: twelve) cores basically tied with the 8 core Zen 4 CPU Gordon said that it's the power usage and cooling, but I feel like it would need to be a difference like the Zen 5 is running at 15W and the Zen 4 is running at 50W to see this kind of difference. And the power brick and battery don't suggeest that the Zen 5 laptop is so frugal with the CPU.

Checked the battery life,CB results and puget bench results quickly. Quite impressive job from AMD and perfect answer to 12c from Qualcomm.
Thank you Gordon for extended testing. One more thing i noticed is AMD chipset driver got an update yesterday and tried it on Zen 3 mobile CPU and it seems they have tweaked idle power consumption and battery life is good even with high performance power plan with 40 Wh battery

Can we do a petition to collectively call the chip Ryzen CRINGE 9 HX 370 I mean, it's got awesome performance and efficiency, I just hate the name. And AMD's marketing division.
Edit: I just love how the automatic captions very often say Ryzen A i9 or directly Ryzen i9 :))

Gordon the thing about these AMD 890m APUs is that they can play AAA games at 1080p on high settings! On a laptop screen that's almost the best experience possible! A Nvidia GPU is only better on an external monitor. ..

This category is the Big Ultrabook. Surface Laptop 15-inch, Vivobook S 16, LG Gram 16, Acer Swift Edge 16, Acer Swift Go 16, Macbook Air 15, etc, etc. And this one is arguably the best of the lot.

Thanks for this detailed review ! I would love to see AI benchmarks / evaluation from you ! Now one better to talk about it.... 2 off the laptops are AI branded.. soo what's the deal

The HX 370 is pretty impressive for being limited at 28W and running a pretty big OLED screen. It does need to buck up on that Procyon responsiveness in battery test though.

I can't be the only one who doesn't care about AI chips. If you're using it, great! But for me tho, I have no interest at all.
