5 Reasons Why Generative Fill will NOT Replace You!

Discover 5 solid reasons why Photoshop's new A.I. feature: Generative Fill, will not replace creative professionals! In this video, we will explore the top drawbacks of this Adobe Firefly-powered feature and how the traditional methods like selection, masking, and compositing are still very much relevant and extremely essential no matter what you create in Photoshop. Cyberwizard: Unmesh, you're a fantastic teacher - but generative fill is new. it's still in beta. i guarentee you that the AIs are all being trained to create better renders, more accurate. Firefly itself is miles behind MidJourney and Stable diffusion. And both MidJourney and Stable can create perfect body parts. Stable does use specially trained models and MidJourney doen't have to, but the version of SDXL for stable that's getting ready to release in july won't need them either. once Firefly gets some fine tuning and a few more versions come out that are better trained, what you just showed won't happen. AI won't take your job, but someone that knows AI will take your job - keep that in mind. Bosses of companies don't want to run photoshop, they want someone else to do it. But within a year, generative fill will be so diffrent you'll have a hard time remembering when it messed up

So many think Ai is going to be a 1 click solution. I hear people saying that ANYONE can now do the stuff that we took years to learn. I think that is a false statement, Ai is a tool for us to use in our workflow, but it will never be 100% accurate or do exactly what we require. Also the main stumbling block for people who don't know the basics in Photoshop, is when a client wants a certain part changed, if they try to recreate it in Ai, they won't get the exact image they 1st produced, so now they will be stuck on how to fix the issues

Having used G. Phil to whisk away a few background characters in sports photos of my son, I can say it is absolutely not a replacement for photography nor for photoshop expertise.
It s just a more direct application of human effort to the process of photo-manipulation. Carefully selecting areas to fill. Using remove tool and old clone tools to correct artifacts. And especially, maintaining photorealism because I was there with my own eyes to judge what looks congruent and what isnt.

Just found it funny when I see people like you do great things with it, but when I try it whatever I ask PS to generate it looks awful, and not just awful, too awful to make anything of it with some editing, for example I asked for a flock of birds in a sky, and all it came up with is a bunch of resized bird decals, like you see on windows, also asked for a shark and it was a very cartoonish shark, and no matter what I tried it just got worse :-)

Generative fill has helped me loads in my retouching. But its a tool like no other. Ive found its great for smaller jobs. eg: I did a model shoot and I had grey fringing from the backdrop around the hair and I couldnt get a good cut out. I got it close, then use generative fill to tidy it up and remove the fringing. Looks great now. Basically used it as a fancy remove tool.

I'm not taking advantage of it because there is no point in my assisting a computer in creating art instead of me accomplishing a skill all on my own power. I get no achievement or worth or value in helping a computer make something, if I don't create all of it, then I don't own it, I wont receive praise for it, its not mine and as such it has no importance.

At this moment, the biggest, and I mean most annoying thing about almost all of the AI generators is their morality as to telling me what can and can't be generated, as in your example. For the most part, almost ALL of the AI generators are guilty of censorship without even laying out guidelines. I've got a problem with that

You would think such a big company that is offering such a big feature would make such a big mistake (resolutions)
you are experienced I ever appreciate you
This is beta version it will do this mistake in regular version
50% image editors lost their jobs, Specially minimum experienced
I wish I was wrong.

Tbf this feature is in beta and is getting better by the week. Give it two years and i'll be interested in your thoughts. Saying that they will always need a creative to use these tools. A retoucher will be using generative fill 1.0 and beyond to help their workflows.

No AI can ever replace humans, creative mind and logical thinking at the moment os out of AI's knowledge... Maybe it'll be also introduced in future but the can never fully replace artists and editors, they can make the work easier for sure

I can't understand why they made it so we need to generate in 1024 sections for a clear fill instead of just having Photoshop automatically generate each of the small sections and merge when an area is large, all behind the scenes

I bought the plugin this morning but I didn't get any license, and there is no answer from the support, I hope they will fix that soon because, seriously, it looks like poor support, and the UI is very outdated and boring

As always, an incisive and eye-opening video. Yes, the pros have no fear, but they must not rest on their laurels. Newbies using AI would leapfrog and edge out the laggards. Therefore Keep calm and keep on learning.

Solution for 1 and 2...just first generate low rez image of the whole gap, than generate sectional high rez squares with full information (how to continue) on other 4 sides, instead of 1 or 2...

I used A.I but for small things, you, right now at least can not do amazing work straight out of it, like Unmesh sayed, you need to have the professional skills to really make a good use of it

AI has the worst time with hands and feet! And sometimes arms. I have gotten warning messages on occasion when I wanted different shoes on an image. It acted like I wanted it to create porn.

I really hope they improve the resolution soon. I wanted to use it to replace the need for searching for images in composites. As of now it's not good enough because the images are fuzzy.

I ve had fun playing with it especially to make my kids laugh (they still like liquify better, though). BUT, I still end up using my own work. It s more satisfying and accurate.

this will just keep getting better and better, midjourney went from zero to hero in half a year... the AI landscape will change everything sooner than we are ready for
