A) Please do check this: Add footer in Word (line-with table command, page counter), save it and open with Libre. Libre will draw a line which is not horizontal, position is off, and so on. They are getting close to MS office. But yes, best alternative to MS office. .docx is just a .uip file. That contains text, pictures, xml,... They need to reverse engineer this in full. B) GIMP: top of the top for bit images. Inkscape is for vector, also top of the top. You need both of them. Gimp is alternative to Photoshop, Inkscape is to Illustrator. C) video editor, I would say VSCD, I hate registering, loging,... need simple editor. Others: +1 to all, VLC needs MS build into wondows 10 ;) I would add: Free picture viewer: NOMACS, the best free alternative to ms picture manager. If you need to rotate, crop, black/white, hue,... simple options, this is it.

Years ago I switched from OpenOffice to LibreOffice, but got frustrated with MS Word compatibility issues and the clunky interface. Now I use Softmaker FreeOffice, which has tons of features, outstanding compatibility, and a pleasant classic interface. It's also cross-platform. You only need a throwaway email address to get a free access code. Other freebies I use are Windows Classic Shell (no longer actively developed), Sumatra PDF, Media Player Classic - Home Cinema, Dropbox, ClipGrab for downloading media, Spybot Anti-Beacon, Piriform CCleaner, Evernote, Calibre for ebooks, and the Vivaldi web browser.

Audacity is top notch. An audio editor manipulates, changes, edits the waveform of music already produced or recorded. You can cut out, or paste in other waveforms, but not like what you can in MIDI music compisition editing. If you need to change notes of a melody, or a variety of other functions. LMMS, and other music/editing software will have a library of waveforms, or software that produces a variety of instruments, some of them are able to able to render the music with the computer.

When you review Browsers include the new Puffin for Windows; I have been using this as my primary browser on Android for nearly a year, it routes through it's own VPN, has a unique compression algorithm that by my comparison, a phone on 2G would load a page in puffin almost was fast as Chrome in 3g, and much faster than chrome in 2g. There are other features the android version has that Idk it was included in Windows... But I hope window version is a stepping stone to Linux.

Best Video Editor: even though I like Lightworks, the free version can only export 720p. My pick would be HitFilm Express 2017, than can export 1080p, has WAY more available effects than LW, PLUS has a build-in 2D/3D compositor!!! It's only topped by the bundle Black Magic Da Vinci Resolve for editing + Black Magic Fusion for compositing.

I run a Blu Ray drive in my desktop, so i can watch my Blu Ray movies. One problem with windows 10 is it doesn't play movies off of a drive. I use the VLC player, with another free program, MakeMKV ripper software to rip said movies to my hard drive. I still can't play the disk, but i can read and rip it using MakeMKV and VLC together

A list of top software is so subjective ... What is the worst for some may be the best for others .. It's all about demand, personal preferences and user level, these are the key factors the dictate the best software... This type of video is only valid as a starting guide for people to try something they don't know...

Although Chrome is used most, I prefer Microsoft Edge because on 4:22 where it says browse fast on my computer that is 'browse slow: Very sluggish, complicated and insecure browser for all your devices'. I don't even use chrome on my android tablet, because I prefer the unstable version of chrome canary.
