I use Emsisoft Anti-malware pd version. I tried Norton's but it was a hog for my computer at the time. My system might be able to use it now but I'm turned off from using it. I've used AVG and it works well until it doesn't and then one has to reinstall it. I've used Avast and Avira and found them to be competent but the free version leaves gaps. Malewarebytes is excellent until it annoys you with You should upgrade messages. I use it, even with my paid Antivirus, and then delete it from my computer until I feel the need to do an extra scan. I once found a threat with it and informed my paid program's company and after a couple days they informed me that that threat is now recognized by them. They keep up t date with their data.

bitdefender can be decent but if you're on a budget pc, it chugs ram at 500 megabytes. Also, while it may have the same antivirus/malware protection as bitdefender's other products, it does not include features such as ransomware protection or other useful tools that you can adjust for in other programs my preferred option at the moment is Avast with the option Hardened Mode enabled. In previous editions, this meant that the program would not allow something to run unless it was already approved in some manner, but even with this method, always practice good computer safety habits and safe browsing

I'm very surprised that Panda isn't on your list. It's a cloud-based free anti-virus which means it's very low on system resources like Defender. My new laptop is far more powerful than my old one, and in the 6 months I've had it, I tried all of the programs you've listed and more. I found that all of them noticeably slowed down my computer except for Defender and Panda. Defender doesn't seem to catch as much as 3rd party software though.

I was offered an antivirus software for free but it turned out it cost 19. I was told I already had an antivirus from my provider so didn't get it. Then I cleaned it out of my system. But they keep bugging me. Will that ever stop? Offering something free that has to be paid for is so immoral, I would never want to get it. I dislike that kind of business. Why does the government allow this bad business practice over a piddling 19 bucks?

AVG & Avast sells you data, has annoying pop ups to get you to buy more of their services which slows down your computer and has horrible customer service and business practices. I got screwed over by them with a billing issue last year. They assured me that I was out of their system but continued to bill me, and refused to repond or give a refund.

I used AVG for years and then switched to Avira. Big mistake. Slowed down my computer and changed my search engine after an update without my permission. Also is difficult to fully uninstall. Now I use Bitdefender which I find is good. No constant pop up upgrade like AVG. Runs silently in the background. Easy to scan etc.

OK eg for someone who does do sometimes high risk surfing (= surfs porn) , is free AVAST better than Windows 10's Windows Defender would you say?? And would you rate Bitdefender even better than AVAST in regards to 'high risk' internet use? And 3rd question, what Browser would be best? I already have Firefox, and Brave

I went with Avesta, from what I ve read it seems really good plus it was a quick and easy install. You can use it for free but I went with the 1 year premium protection plan (just to be safer) for just 25. 25 for a year is a lot cheaper than some that I ve seen, some make you pay 20 every month which is just too much.

Use Deep Freeze. Setup your system, install what you need, then lock it down. Allocate some space for project files, game saves etc. If you get infected, just reboot windows and it's back to the way it was before the infection. I use deep freeze to circumvent trialware, especially hardcore ones that use HASP.

What antivirus software do you use on your computer? If you have Windows 10 and you're a low risk user, Defender should be all that you need for basic protection. Otherwise, you'll be better protected using a program mentioned in this video... Thanks for watching :)
