After installing Windows 10 on a computer, there is a general checklist of settings and registry edits I go through to improve the overall experience. Whether you ve purchased a new PC or you re installing Windows 10 over an older operating system, I will share with you the settings I change immediately, along with other recommendations.

1. Disable windows defender through local group policy and install 360 total security and malwarebytes adwcleaner. 2. Disable windows search service and superfetch service through services.msc, disable auto scheduled defragmentation, because disabling these services really speeds up the windows. 3. Enable win32 long path in registry, uncheck hide file extensions for known file types in view options of file explorer, enable launch explorer windows in own process. 4. If using vpn, make sure to disable webRTC in all browsers using add-ons. 5. Disable administrative shares to enhance security. 6. Install shareX for advanced screenshot. 7. Install deskpins for pinning any window to always stay on top. 8. Install auslogics boostspeed and tweak windows with its dozens of god level options you can never find in other softwares, and install auslogics driver updater. 9. Install Picasa photo viewer for ultimate full screen transition based photo viewing experience. 10. Install .Net framework 3.5 and 4.5 or above or enable through turn windows features on dialogue box. Many programs depend on it. 11. Install all vc++ redistributable packages since version 2005 through 2018, also install x64 versions if the os is 64bit. 12. Install MPC-HC full version, k-lite codec pack, divx including divx player with HEVC codec, ac3 audio decoder, QuickTime codecs and dfx audio enhancer for rich media experience. 13. Install gif viewer, swf viewer, 7-zip, autoruns, Ccleaner, speccy, defraggler, recuva, ultracopier, unlocker, USB safely remove, clipboard fusion and synergy. 14. Install clonezilla, AOMEI backupper, mini tool partition wizard, Erunt emergency recovery unit to take complete control of your files, applications and registry. 15. Install portableapps from portableapps.com straight to the hard-disk or USB. 16. Install and use peerblock as an additional firewall for ip based advanced blocking, install and use Tor browser if you know what you're doing. 17. VyprVPN and PIA are good vpn services, make sure to enable vpn kill switch. Vpn flashed routers are handy. 18. Install Dnsjumper to quickly flush and refresh dns cache and find fastest available public dns services and apply to all or specified network adapters. 19. Install object desktop and rainmeter to change the look and feel of windows like never before, with these applications, UI and UX are heavenly experience. 20. A big omission in your Windows 10 series I consider the lack of a video about File Explorer the program that users use most often. Yes, renewed File Explorer first appeared in Windows 8, but most people switch from Windows 7 directly to Windows 10 (including me, still on Windows 7). And the File Explorer in it is so much better than what was in Windows 7. I appreciate the new Ribbon interface, but most of all I appreciate the customizable Quick Access Toolbar . Similar to Microsoft Office, it allows you to pin only the necessary buttons / commands on a separate panel or in the title bar without taking up extra space, having direct access to them, even if the Ribbon is hidden. Many people simply don't know or don't think about this great possibility, and I'm amazed that there are practically no videos about this on YouTube. For me, this is one of the main advantages in the new versions of Windows. The toolbar in Windows 7's (File) Explorer was terrible and useless.

Thank you so much. I was a Windows user for decades and remember even using DOS to do shit. I converted to Mac when Windows versions hit the fan, and vista rubbed me the wrong way. It might have contributed, that my then new partner was an avid software developer only using MacOS and/or linux. So with him around, i had tech support for mac since it was so different. I recently watched him forced to deal with windows 10 on one of his projects and i liked what i saw. He built me a new pc and i got Windows 10 again. But it was like learning from scratch again. You, young man has helped me a lot. I go through your videos atm, and would like you to know that the way you express yourself and how clearly and perfect pace you choose when explaining...is brilliant. And you still manage to skip the fluff that i see from others. Keep it up!

Where I would agree that 'dark mode' can be easier on the eyes ... especially during those late night sessions ... there is one major exception. When red ... especially text ... is placed on a black background it causes the eye to stress focus (strain) because there is a perception of 'floating text'. It's worse with bold fonts or stationary vs. moving graphics. Translation ... it will cause headaches and can trigger migraines. The problem exists with other color combinations to a much lesser degree and is usually passed off as eye fatigue. But red ... that's a whole different story. I'm not an MD so I don't know the medical reasons ... just an engineer who took some courses on perceptual and color psychology to better design GUIs.

I did most things except I skipped the last 2 subjects regarding restore point and registry changes. There seemed to be too big of a chance of making a mistake that may be hard to undo. The restore point screen that came up for me was different so MS likely has changed this some but I did find what was talked about. Regarding file explorer I had already gone through and fixed the dumb things MS did to make file explorer less useful. MS does not seem to realize the file explorer is windows strong point. Another annoying thing Windows seems to do is to setup what to me is a unusable folder system. On the C: I have a folder called my documents and everything of mine goes into that folder and everything windows setup goes unused.

(1st tip - just adjust your screens resolution so you can read all too small texts to avoid squinting.) Next select your documents-folder, select properties, select the tab location and change it to another drive or partition, create a new folder called my docs, select this folder and click apply - when asked to transfer all files, click yes. This way all your files will remain safe when you re-install a new clean windows-setup. You can do this for all special-personal-folders like pictures, music, video & desktop. Just don't forget to regularly make an external back-up of your personal files on a USB-drive to prevent total-loss in case of a hardware failure...

If you have done one or plan to do one for MS Office products, especially Excel, one that I always do and wish others would do, too, is to change the default setting for vertical alignment to Top (preferred) or Center (better than Bottom but not as good as Top) instead of the factory-set Bottom (I don't like this one at all). Unfortunately, there is no easy setting to make this the default. I have to Google every time I have a newly-installed Excel since I never remember how to do this. It would be nice if you could recommend setting Vertical alignment to Top (or Center) and show us how to do this.

Hi there. I'm Cortana, and I'm here to help. A little sign in here, a touch of WiFi there, and we'll have your PC ready for all you plan to do. Use your voice or the keyboard along the way, and if you'd like me to stay quiet, just select the little microphone icon at the bottom of screen. If you need an assistive screen reader, press the Windows, Control, and Enter keys at the same time to turn on Narrator. Okay, enough intro. Let's dig in. pLeAsE wAiT

On a home network, I go to Device Manager, Network Adapters > Power Management and turn off [uncheck] Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power . I may want to copy files from one computer to another. If Windows 10 has decided to turn off the network adapter to save power on a computer I haven't used in a little while, then copying files won't work, everything will time out and the universe explodes.

to save you time guys you need to only tweak the security settings the rest is just visual settings which is not important ...for that just install a security suite like bitdefender or kaspersky internet security this will take care of the security stuff here and there ..playing with the settings can cause problems in the future when other updates gets installed just sayin...
