If you are running low on workout motivation, this video will likely change that for you in just a few minutes. I want to introduce you to Brendan O-doherty. Like you, he is an avid watcher of my videos and a young man who was on top of the world in terms of his career, his life and his health. That is until his world was rocked by a diagnosis of testicular cancer. Brendan had surgery to remove the cancerous testicle in 2014 and remained cancer free for a year, only to have it reappear a year later and this time in a much more aggressive form. Following 6 months of chemotherapy, he was given more bad news that the tumors were not responding and that in fact, another different kind of cancer had developed next to his spine that made it nearly impossible for him to walk. Through it all, Brendan made no excuses. Why? He has every right to. What happened to him is devastating and simply not fair. That said, instead of agreeing with my sentiments, he chose to look at it as something much different. An opportunity to look deep inside and challenge himself to overcome this and beat it like any other obstacle in life he had faced before. Watching the ATHLEAN-X videos gave him inspiration. They gave him a goal to point towards that he could say -I-ll be doing that as soon as I beat this-. He shared these thoughts in an email with me and it simply stopped me in my tracks. First of all, to be any factor at all in this man-s recovery is a humbling honor and one that I honestly cannot understand. That said, I relish the responsibility that brings and it makes me strive to give nothing but my best in every video I release. As I read his email and became astounded by his courage, I felt as if I had no other choice but to do what I knew I had to do. I called him. Here is a compilation of some of what transpired between Brendan and I on our phone call. I was so touched by his story and bravery that I asked him if it would be ok to capture our call on video so that I might share his story with our millions of viewers to hopefully help someone else out there that may have felt despair when faced with a similar circumstance (or if someone in their family had

For all of those that have been asking for an update on Brendan since this video. I have some incredibly good news to share with you, straight from an email Brendan sent to me. Please take the time to read it and pass along your continued support!
-Hi Jeff and all at Athlean-X
So I finally got the news I've been waiting to hear since April 2014. The hospital told me and confirmed that I am CLEAR of cancer!
I have overcome a battle that a lot of guys did not and for that it has given me greater strength.
This has been a real struggle for me and my partner over the last few years. I have always tried, to the best of my ability to stay strong and be positive. I think my brain was the hardest muscle I used to get through this though, because I knew if I could win the mental battle then my body would follow.
I honestly believe that because I was training before, during and after that my body got through this and was that much stronger to take all this on. I can now finally start getting my life back to normal and plan my future without this dark cloud over me.
Myself and family are still taking all this good news in. I truly thank all of you at Athlean-X for your support and kind words along the way.
Keep up the good work! You make a difference
Cheers
Brendan

I also have embraced the - Athlean x - method while being treated for Stage IV prostate cancer which has no cure at this time. The treatments I have been through and continuing significantly reduced testosterone level to nadir levels ( essentially none ) which results in part in significant muscle wasting. Prior to embracing working out and employing many of Jeff's techniques I could barely arise off the couch at night and I experienced a few falls due to weakness and disequilibrium. All those symptoms have abated. As a disabled and former physical therapist who also trained athletes in the late 80's and 90's I truly appreciate Jeff's approach and INGENIOUS exercises and video science based explanation with no B. S. I hope to live long enough that they will develop a cure or even a durable remission. With Jeff's excellent programs I will work every day toward that goal! I can never thank him enough. Please all men have your PSA levels checked! If your father had prostate cancer begin being tested at age 40. Good health!

Saw this Jeff and thought I would relay my experience, I too watch your videos and had a few setbacks in my health. I spent 3 years fighting a brain tumor, tried every treatment imaginable, chemo, stem cell, radio therapy, I never stopped going to the gym I would often go within an hour of treatment as I knew I would be too ill later, finally got Proton bean treatment and beat the damn thing.
I am sure that if I hadnt kept training it would have won, then a year after the all clear had to have a quintuple by pass. I was back at work 10 days after the operation, back in the gym 10 weeks later (cos that how long they said it would take for my sternum to heal, Back to normal now training 4 days a week aged 63, Thanks for your videos and the great advice and guidance they provide. never give up. its always too early to quit

I just lost a 15 year old friend due to blood cancer, doctors said that her cancer wasn't genetic, it was realized that she caught this disease from telephone towers which were around her house(She had 3 towers around her house. She just passed away some weeks ago; I didn't talk to her much but it hurted bad. And ironically i just texted her exactly rhe week before she died. And it was like a trauma.
Am 15 too And losing someone sucks but i have realized that it's a part of life and you need to somehow move
And please please india. Reduce the amount of towers around yourself or there will be no india

Watching this video a while after it was posted. I work primarily in imaging cancer patients and helping their workups. Stories like this really remind us that it is not only important to do all you can to beat the disease, but keep as much normalcy in a patient's life as possible, because it's those things that you want to live for. Whether it's training, spending time with family, continuing to work, or anything else that keeps you going, that's what it's all about. Glad to hear he's in remission. Hope he stays there.

As a scrawny Asian dude who once wanted to bulk up so badly that I went on an extremely dirty bulk till I got so fat instead of being big and lean, i started to realize that I actually have good health and a body type that everyone wants as I can eat my favorite foods without any worry of excess weight gain. I have since cut down and ate only healthy good quality foods if I wanted to gain muscle and also experienced better health than most in my country who work out but do not take advice from pros like Athlean X

Had 9 surgeries myself by age 30. Sports reaked havoc on me. Nearly all major surgeries. I hit the gym daily in high school and ran a 5 minute mile while having size. I lost all of that in my 20's and found athleen x in 2016 at the age of 27. 30 years old with a six pack abs again and considerable size. I still hurt but 4 months out of my bicep tenodesis and I've been back at the gym full time since 2 months post op. I had to make it a habit again.

Jeff, you are the best that-s out there in the fitness industry and that-s just the plain truth. You don-t do it for money you simply do it to educate and help people and give them the motivation and the truth to reach their goals. We should appreciate the health we have and take advantage of it every single day! Thank you for this video, again a great reminder of never taking our health for granted and kick our lazy asses!

So thrilled that Brendon has had a positive outcome. I-ve been ill to the point where family was asked to remain late at the Hosp. Why? Bc I was not expected to make it. I did and I go to the gym on the regular. Working out is both a mental and physical uplift. Age is not an excuse. Working out is life changing. I have worked out with ppl on oxygen. Don-t be intimidated. U plunked dwn the same $ as the big guy next to u.

Coming from someone who was defeated by my personal battles with my identity was by far been the number one thing that has held me back. You've made me a better trainer, a better athlete, and a better man. I'm going to school to hopefully Nevill become a physical therapist and strength coach. I always wear my merch to represent! #TeamAthlean
